In US news, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, one of the many 2020 election candidates, appeared at a Fox News Channel town hall and the Fox News audience loved him. At the end of the Pete Buttigieg Fox News town hall, the audience gave him a stand ovation. One might argue that the Pete Buttigieg town hall on Fox News went better than Bernie Sanders'. In the Pete Buttigieg interview he answered questions about the electoral college and called out Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson. After the town hall, the Fox & Friends hosts and President Trump expressed their dismay at Buttigieg's warm reception.

Offus Youfus that was evading? I think that was a pretty clear answer while also admonishing how intellectually dishonest those types of questions are. He essentially said “yes” and provided a more human perspective as to why an outright ban in the third trimester would be potentially devastating to so many families. These simple “yes or no” policy questions are dishonest.

I am a Republican yes, although I have always voted for the right candidate which meant yes I voted for McCain, but when I saw Obama do things right I voted for him. I think we need to dial it back on parties. This isn't a football game where the home team wins or loses. It is our local community, a state of people in need of change, and a world wide stage. We need men (and if God calls it, women) to bring us to the future and not hold us back or disrupt our momentum.

@@alexmiller8177 I completely agree. I think these arbitrary party designations cause people to agree with ideas without even thinking because it comes from their party. I think this is the main reason for the angry political climate and the reason that politicians from both sides are able to manipulate people into voting for them. It just sets up an "us vs them" mentality and then people feel the need to fight and get angry about things they really don't know anything about, just because they identify as one party or another. Most of my opinions are "progressive" but there are lots of ideas from the democratic party I don't agree with. There are also lots of things I don't understand at all and it's better for me to learn about those things from a neutral perspective, rather than decide I believe something because the party I most identify with tells me to and then "learn" about it with confirmation bias skewing my understanding.

I'm weird. I vote for people who propose the best policies to actually enrich people's lives, not get wooed by manufactured identity and well-crafted platitudes. There is absolutely no evidence that he wouldn't be a raving centrist to keep the machine purring, making the rich richer. We need actual solutions rather than an inspirational poster.

kyle orten I dunno, I'd usually jump at the chance to call him out as an "enlightened centrist" but he seems different than that. I think he speaks with integrity and is willing to cross party lines, and in this current political climate I think that speaks volumes.

That will be a real shock to them, I’m sure. Republicans, not all but most, have the most bizarre concept of what American Democratic citizens are like, how we live, what we do with our free time, what jobs we have and who we love. That is what happens when you live in a echo chamber and bubble of right-wing talking points. Your party thrives on demonizing Democrats, so you think of us as other than who we are, just regular people who work hard, love our families and friends, contribute to the community, and want the best for our country.
