My entire adult life...she and NPR Fresh Air have been there. I can't define my life without it. She opens the door to so many lives of people out there, that I wouldn't know. It really teaches you of humanity. By listening to their stories on Fresh Air, it made me to cheer up and stand up again, when I found myself in a dark and very low point...or to be humble when I was at the high point of my life. She's national treasure we should all cherish.

I don’t think you understand what it means when someone says “I define my life.” It means the things in their life that are important and valuable to them (even if any of those things aren’t important to someone else). Having such a smooth voice, with crisp diction & varying tones, & such great breath control, may be "natural talent" when you're young; but to keep it into senior years as Ms. Gross has takes dedication & conscious work. So nice to see the hard working, well studied, actually Very well studied and kind soul who bring us all her insight into people and things we are curious about. Sometimes things we didn't even know we were curious about.

So weird hearing her and seeing her at once. I couldn't actually recognize her voice, while looking at her. Then, I looked away, brought up another tab, and I was instantly transported into Fresh Air. Weird how our sense work. It's like my ears were attached to this experience with this person, but my eyes weren't used to being invited to the party.

Terry is a rock star. I seldom miss Fresh Air and I do remember the O Reilly interview. He acted like a total prat which should not surprise anyone. Meanwhile, as Terry said so beautifully, she still has a show and he is out writing those terrible “history” books and bullying airline staff

Love your show, Terri. I must say I miss Diane Rehm. So grateful we have you. I am not comparing. No comparison can exist between two great people each superb at what they do in their own right. National treasure indeed. Yes you are. Thank you.

You may not be able to compare the two but I sure can. Diane Rehm wasn't in the same league as Terry Gross. Rehm was overtly biased, often lacked interest in her guests, and often failed to ask good followups.
