Dec. 11, 2017 | Sidney Madden -- Tyler, The Creator's Tiny Desk performance was a first for many reasons. It was the Los Angeles rapper's first time performing at our offices, but moreover, it was the Tiny Desk's first nighttime performance, a special request from Tyler and his team in order to professionally light the "stage" themselves. Members of Tyler's lighting crew came to the office a day before to set it up, eventually bathing him and his band in shades of fuchsia, orange and blue - one for each song - during the early evening show.
Flower Boy, Tyler's latest album, is much like this Tiny Desk performance; a surprising departure from the expected. Four albums in, he has matured as a producer, rapper and human being. Often equated to hip-hop's class clown, the 26-year-old peels back his own mask of immaturity to reveal a young adult grappling with anxiety, fear and uncertainty of self.
After he was done, Tyler did something of a modified mic-drop, throwing his tambourine in celebration of what he and his band had accomplished. Always one to stay casually connected with his fans, Tyler made time - nearly an hour after the performance was done -- to pose for photos, sign merch and crack jokes with (and on) everyone around him.
Set List
"Boredom"
"See You Again"
"Glitter"

If you have ears to hear, hear and understand you are probably one of GODS lost sheep that needs to be found there is this hole in your heart and you tried many times and many things and many ways to fill it and still are but it’s not working and it keeps getting bigger and bigger you would be around multiple people and still feel lonely and work so hard to take those bad thoughts away etc but let me tell you JESUS is the one who can fill that whole in your heart JESUS is that missing piece you’ve been looking for, that peace that’s never ending that true love and joy and happiness it’s in JESUS not of this world but of the kingdom of heaven and if you want to accept him in your heart all you have to do is believe in the gospel A-admit that you’re a sinner and that you need forgiveness, B-Believe that JESUS CHRIST died for your sins and rose again, and C-Confess your faith in JESUS CHRIST and his lordship over your life and you will be saved and this amazing feeling is not a drug it won’t last a couple hours but forever eternally bc it is not of this world but of GOD who sits on the throne of heaven forever and ever HALLELUJAH

@@Luvkioo i did sir! Not a church goer or necessarily religious in the sense that most people think of. But i beleive in God with all my heart and prey and confess. I do go to church God created the earth and therefore im always in church. All water i drink is holy because God put it on the earth for me. I was also the same as a lot of these people and i beleived in more of the universe science and evolution. I beleived the universe is listening and ask and you will receive. These things became so much more powerful when i came to the conclusion that these things are God. It saddens me how against people are on this. But essentially they beleive in the same thing they beleive in earth and the energies of the universe, when that is god they just call it something different. This was how I discovered Tyler the creator!! My sister originally showed me this channel in early 2018 and the first one I listened to was Mac Miller's Tiny Desk Concert (RIP 🕊). I found myself scrolling and clicking on ones that were interesting to me and I clicked on this one, and as soon as one of the ladies started singing, I was hooked. I fell in love with Boredom and immediately tried to find this exact version of the song but couldn't so I just listened to the regular one and the rest of the album, and now I've been a Tyler fan ever since, thanks to my sister!!

I finally watched this Tiny Desk after hesitating for years. I often found the songs of him too eclectic, confusing. But a few weeks ago I watched this and was in awe. The whole vibe with the lighting, the singers, the interactions is just so soothing to me. I've been watching this at least 10 times. It always leaves me with a huge smile on my face. I enjoy his Flower Boy album but for the one more aggressive rap one Who Dat Boy. I like to watch album review videos and first watching that to slowly take in the music and lyrics have been great for me.

LGnLA Start checking out his clothing line and other projects he tackles. Guy is completely driven and always looks like he's appreciating life with what he has. Some of his older work isn't entirely the best (or should I say like this) and will not resonate with a lot of individuals, but you could tell early on Tyler was going somewhere. Glad you liked him! Go listen to the album!
