This is one of those moments when your life feels so fragile. They were already in the midst of recording album 4, when Hwan Sung went to the hospital with abdominal pains and headaches, which probably even to them didn't look that serious at the time. But 6 days after, he went into a coma. They were unable to revive him, and soon, he was taken off of life support. I can only imagine how the rest of the group felt then. Today, I still keep the family, and the 4 members in my prayers. R.I.P. Hwan Sung. May u always shine like the stars.

It's influenza from what I read which does not have any cure yet at that time

I have never heard of NRG until I read it on Wikipedia and just from reading about his death made me cry and now that I watch this I can't stop crying. I keep thinking "He was only 19 why did he have to die he was such a good singer and he was very handsome!". R.I.P Hwan Sung! All your fans still love u and NRG and u will always be in their hearts and my heart!

Today I watched a movie dedicated to him în memoriam... this movie is To my star 2...the pain of his family and those aroud him fades with time but his memory is eternal....R.I.P.

+sanwo H. He had a very malignant viral pneumonia that he'd had for awhile without it being diagnosed or receiving proper treatment. He was the maknae of the group so it was quite traumatic for the other members, though I'm sure had it been any other member they would've been sad also, but this was their baby.

i read on some forums that he caught SARS during their activities in China and when he started not to feel good, they got him hospitalized but the doctors couldnt find out what exactly was his illness. The commentors on the forum said that it's most likely sars because it was around the time sars was spreading in China but no one knew about it hence the doctors couldnt pinpoint what his illness is. What makes me feel even more emotional is that he apparently assured his fans that he's getting better while he was in the hospital a few days before he died. all those who followed and stanned nrg must have been in shock. 😭

I found him this year and I can't understand why my heart hurts so much. I wasn't even born when he died but thats another reason why it hurts so much.... Rest in peace. Fly high

Yes it is said Hwang-sung was only 19 years old by a virus infection.....he was too young to die but we have to face the facts that once someone is gone from the world you can bring them back to life

He was so young. This is so tragic, how he did. It is pretty traumatic to lose someone to a sudden illness like this. I had a friend die pretty suddenly from strep right after she turned 30. Yes, if you don't treat strep fast enough, it can enter your bloodstream and then it is often fatal. A death like that is very shocking. You just don't think a common illness would really kill like that, especially with hospital care, but it happens. You can just see how shocking his death was to all these people who loved him. I can't image what his family went through.

I’m a 17 year old who loves today’s kpop and but loves oldies always and yesterday I came across this group and fell in love with their song “making love” and finding out one of the members died ;( I’m a shawol and it’s breaks my heart that every time I discover a new group it’s always has someone who is dead 🥺✨ Two two SHINee NRG These groups and it just makes me so sad because I joined these fandoms and it breaks me 🥺

I only got into NRG because their songs kept showing up on my feed after I explored 1st gen a bit. It's so weird because I actually developed a liking for this group even though this was in the past. Just goes to show how much a group can affect people even after an era. Rest In Piece forever, you will always be remembered.

Conocí la banda hace poco y me he encariñado bastante con Hwansung ❤. No había nacido para aquella época pero eso no impide que sienta una extrema empatía por los familiares, amigos, integrantes de NRG y fanáticos que lo vivieron, estoy segura que sufrieron demasiado. Tenemos que quedarnos con las cosas bellas que nos dejó nuestro querido Hwansung, recordar es la mejor manera de olvidar. 💗🙏

문득 환성군이 그리워서 검색해서 봤다가 펑펑 울었네요. 17년이 되가는 지금 아직도 그립고 그립고 또 그립습니다. 천사같았던 사람. 미소가 아름다웠던 사람. 우는 사람을 기꺼이 안아주던 사람. 언제나 기억하고 있을게요. 가끔은 일찍 가버린 환성군이 밉기도 하지만, 그래도 NRG와 천재일우의 추억이 있어 웃을 수 있는 것 같아요. 부디 하늘에서도 행복하게 남아있어주길..

I cried a lot. As a child who was born in late 90's, I barely knew anything about 1st gen idols until I got into Sechskies. I cried nonstopably for so long. He was still young, life is so cruel. He's a true angel

Me siento tristo viendo este video, recien le conozco vine por aqui por una cancion que me gusto escucharle llamada MAKING LOVE, me impresionaron por su baile y voz. Soy fan de Shinee pero las canciones de NRG son muy pegagozas. Una gran coincidencia que los dos llevaran el apellido KIM.

Wow... He died 4 years before I was born and I found out he died just today because I saw a video of SF9 talking about NRG so I searched them up and found out Hwansung died 2000 he was so young as well, R.I.P Kim Hwan Sung😭❤️❤️🙏🏻

I've watched this video several times and it makes me sorrow after have known the chronology of Hwanseong's death. Now I'm watching back after know Moonbin's death. Hopefully for all K-pop idols that have passed away too early will always get their happiness and calmful thing in Heaven. I always remember them, especially for late Hwanseong oppa

The last I read. they were not quite sure. He had fever and pain, and once it got severe they realized it wasn't a cold. He was hospitalized, but fell into a coma and eventually was taken off life support. They think it may have been an acute case of pneumonia or possible even a case of SARS (they had activities in China at the time).

이규빈 전 타팬 지만 제 기억 론 NRG가 한창 중국 활동 하다가 기침이 심해서 병원 간거죠 사서함에선 괜찮 다고 했는대 갑자기 돌아 가셨던 것 같하요....

이규빈 다른 나라에 봉사하러 갔다가 말라리아같은 모기에 물려 걸리는 병에 걸려서 처음엔 목만 아프다가 점점 심해져서 사망하시거에요..

I'm a Shawol and came to know about Kim Hwan Sung only days ago. I'm touched by his story and sudden death at such a young age. I'm familiar with the passing of your idol as Shawols lost Jonghyun so this made me cry too. And I can't help but notice the extreme resemblance with SHINee's beloved leader Onew...like twins 😢❤

생각나서 와봤어요. 환성오빠 잘 지내시나요? 이번에 엔알지 오빠들이 다시 컴백했고, 요새 기쁜 소식만 들려오고있어요 팬미팅때 티파니에서 아침을 무대를 봤는데, 집에 오니깐 오빠 빈자리가 크게 느껴지더라구요 지금 엔알지 오빠들도 좋지만, 5명이서 부르던 영상이랑 교차되면서 너무 슬펐어요 어디선가 지켜보고 있을거라 믿어요 부디 이 세상에 있는 엔알지 오빠들을 지켜주세요 제 생활이 여유로워지면, 그땐 예쁜 꽃이랑 편지 들고 갈게요 선물로 그림도 들고갈게요 나중에 봐요!

It's been 14 years since this but I was not even born I was born 8 ears after his death...he was too young he died at the age of 19...if he was alive he would be in his 40s but his illness killed him...we will all miss him

Oh wow, this clip is still going around?! I remember watching this when it happened, NRG was my favorite group at the time and he was my favorite member, I cried really hard. So sad he died so young!!!

Interesting. Thanks for the information. Really tragic that artists these days die for some unfortunate reason. But hopefully all our prayers are with them. They really put in their all to put out material that we can enjoy so i'm always grateful.

like some people here, I didnt know who NRG is but knew them through Yoochun(he was a fanboy) cause of his fanboying video. Even though I'm not a fan, I felt like crying. This is such a sad video. I must say its really sad esp to die young at 19. Whats more sad is when I see the sadness through the fans' face when they were all crying. It must be hard to take esp for the parents and family. Imagined if your favorite star or idol died that young. I feel for his fans and family members.

나는 NRG가 활동 때 (1997 ~ 2006) 좋아했던 팬도 아니었고 이제야 NRG를 알게 되고 좋아했죠 근데 김환성 사망 정말 안따깝다 살아있었다면 42살이었을탠데... 하지만 NRG는 영원히 5명!!! 해체 안 했어요 (이성진 천명훈 노유민 문성훈 김환성)

if i remember correctly he died from a very viral case of pneumonia. can't say for sure if that's what it was. it's been awhile since i last listened to these guys but yeah. it's really sad

You can't just keep people on life support forever. There was just a point in which there was no hope. NRG would not still exist even if he was kept on life support, because you cant sing while you are in a coma...

Although I now know about him, but my heart truly aches for him. What a sad thing. Separation is an outcast, but not, but rather a hand of tricks. It is inevitable for us. Praise be to God.

i had that once in the 2nd grade, but i was lucky to have a light case, i didn't even feel alive during that time. it's really bad, to have at any age...

@mirioticdbsktvxq1321 nope. He died of pneumonia in the hospital. His parents, at the end, finally took him off life support when there wasn't hope left. He was only 19 :(
