@billtyler4440 > I also think so. "Rock 'n' Roll" is only that american rock from the 50s. That that came after is only "Rock Music" (or "Rock no Roll"). Rock 'n' Roll, Rock--Ballads, Doo-Wop, Rock-A-Billy, Calypso-Rock.

Besides being great harmony, melody and lyrics, you can understand every word they say. Plus, the music isn't so loud it steps on the voice.

Sweet Sue 97 Williams1 second agoHey, chill guys...I used to watch this show in the 50s, and Dick Clark would always ask the Guest Artist toward the end of the show to go backstage to get gum to hand out to the audience - black AND white artists. Everybody knew to expect it. And yes, I'm a huge Beatles fan, but you know what - back in the day Dick most certainly would have asked John, Paul, George and Ringo to hand out gum, too. It was all part of the fun of the Saturday night Beechwood Hour!! Sheesh.....

When I was about 6 or 7 years old, my family would always watch Dick Clark Show around 57 or 58. I know that the dentists just Loved watching all those teenagers chewing gum. I know it enhanced their dental practice.

This is 1958. Four black performers. Every audience member is white. Everyone loved the music. Everyone got along just great. We can all learn something from them ....

Awesome song. Was playing it for my teenage daughter but Thank goodness for the civil rights movement.! "Get some donuts for everyone" !!!??? You would NEVER hear that command given to a famous singer now a days. I don't believe that would even have been told to the singers in that age if they were white. . .just sayin'.

Yeah, Dick made them all lip synch, those were the rules of American Bandstand, and they all did except for Jerry Lee Lewis, who was just too hard headed to be bothered
