Calls a talented 26 yr old concert pianist "old". Interrupts him while he is playing, and continues to ask dumb questions. This woman annoys me. Terrible interview. Some people don't understand nor appreciate the countless hours of hard work and effort behind a great musician.

That lot hit an absolute bottom, in my view. Almost disrespectful. To Lang Lang as well as to the music he performs. It is a shame but these our today's standards. Lang Lang, I have to say, great great pianist but also someone who has gone to great lengths to make classical music more accessible to the current masses mostly addicted to crap.

Lang Lang is correct on saying that you must have passion and love in order to thrive in learning to play the piano. I am a professional musician and pianist, and I have to say that this is true if you really want to get serious in to music, especially for conducting. To become a successful musician, passion and love is number one. This is required for orchestral conducting as this will help when articulating the music. Without passion and love, the conducting career with just get narrower and narrower, and you will less likely become one of the world's famous conductors.

I don’t think you can label a pianist as the ‘greatest pianist’ as it’s more than just pressing the right notes and there’s emotion behind every piece and every pianist has their unique sound and it’s also their interpretation of what the composer was feeling when writing it and then it’s up to the audience to decide as individuals to know if they liked it or not and Lang Lang is definitely my favourite pianist, you can see how much hard work was put behind every piece he plays and to me that’s really inspiring.
@wjf1950
@wjf1950 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Matt, good post. You're correct in your analysis of the term 'greatest pianist' ...... listen to Glen Gould play JS Bach, and then listen to Valentina Lisitsa et al......they are so similar, but all play with a little different emotion! Piano is the greatest instrument of all time, where practice never gets old!!
@armangouya
@armangouya 2 жыл бұрын
Well being the greatest or the best are two complete different adjectives. In my view your definition of greatest is more likely related to the best. It is not so easy to decide the best, in almost every topic or subject nevertheless I can easily say Lang Lang is the greatest pianist. Probably the only pianist who can play in an sports stadium and have the place sold out. He brought a lot of fans, specially younger ones to find classical music interesting . As a result of all that he actually can be considered the greatest pianist.

Amir Motahari surely he is,it’s not just a question of taste. Technically he isn’t second at noone,you can take as example “La campanella” and see how incredible he is. Brendel was a giant,nothing to say about that,I actually like his Beethoven interpretations or Liszt one also,but in my opinion Lang Lang made another step next to them. And,I say this so that you can understand my point of view,I think he is better also then Valentina Lisitsa,who is a great and so talented pianist of our age.
@amirmotahari6186
@amirmotahari6186 5 жыл бұрын
@@Ego_S.B. Technique has to serve the pupose f the music. plus techinque to you might be playing loud and fast but to me is the ability to sing and produce colour. you can not even compare Langlang or lisita, to people like Schiff Brendel Sokolov gould Richter, Bolet. they are all second league to these people. Schiff and Brendel are have recordings that are considered as reference when it comes to Schubert, Mozart and Hayden!

Totally agree!! And not only that! She doesn’t have a clue about classical music When for instance he said that at two years old he was able to reproduce Tom and Jerry’s soundtrack on the piano she should have asked him What do you mean you were actually able to play back music by ear? Did you have perfect pitch? If he won a competition at five he was obviously a freaking genius

It was a poor interview. She only asked about age, and she called him _old_ at 26🙄. Which is ridiculous. Musicians get better with age, especially piano since it's a small muscles instrument and not something you have to carry. Look at Argerich tearing it up in her seventies.

il est très fort, pour jouer une Polonaise de Chopin il faut un sacré niveau cependant en tant qu'auditeur, je le trouve parfois brouillon, notamment ici ; il fait trop d'effet de "dynamique", au détriment d'une rigueur rythmique ; il en rajoute souvent trop, comme sur les pièces " lente", où là il est carrément au ralenti, voir proche du décrochage ;
