As an SU fan (with preference for the SWAC band approach) I must admit that NSU is no joke! I love how they always do EWF songs justice. I love the NSU fanfares. I love the originality. I truly respect this program and its leadership. Keep doing what you do so greatly. I'm a fan. Respect to the Green & Gold! 👊

This halftime performance by the Norfolk State Spartan Legion was selected the No. 1 HBCU band halftime show for 2022 by HBCU Sports. The Spartan Legion also had another halftime show that placed 3rd Place. BEHOLD THE GREEN & GOLD !! 💚💛

In my mind this band has always been The Earth The Wind And The Fire! These songs and other EWF songs that they play are what makes NSU Superior! I would love to hear more songs like this than Rap Arrangements in the stands! These songs are the Standard! AMAZING SHOW LEGION!

Awesome job Legion!!! Per usual the Silkettes and Spartan Guard did some impressive precision flagwork that’s hard to find today. You guys are truly dedicated to maintaining the fundamentals and that traditional para-military flag corps style. You can’t go wrong with that… sets you apart from the rest! Keep up the great work! I always wondered how NSU would sound playing "Gataway"after hearing JSU's and Southern's versions many years ago. Superb! I only wish NSU's arrangement was a little longer. Hot Ice, your magical moves is a throwback to the Spartan Legion's Hot Ice feature: "System of Survival" in the homecoming show 1987. You ladies are fiya then & now!

Listen!!!! I’m an Aggie and a die hard BGMM lover but there is NO DENYING this band’s sound is AH-MAZ-ZING!!! CRISP & CONTROLLED!!! They sound like “one sound”. 🔥 🔥 🔥 …..and song selection is on point!

This was definitely the best EWF tribute I've ever seen.....I remember watching old performances and you played Jupiter.....but Everything sounded great From GETAWAY TO SEPTEMBER. This is definitely going on my Favorite list

Looking at the stands and how it should filled each home game. Remember that this is a young and inexperienced team. Give them a chance and they will make you glad to be a Spartan. GO SPARTANS!

No one can EW&F like the Legion EW&F, i feel like those be their most powerful marches when they march to a EW&F classic, i loved errthang about this performance, guaranteed to be the best HBCU band performance of the week hands down

This is a good band. Overall, the band looks the same and it plays together. I don't like some of the voicing, particularly in the mellophone and euphonium (the upper tessitura is often thin, non-mellow and non-euphonius) but the arrangements are very musical. Love's holiday is VERY NICE! Percussion is very clean with good balance within the section and ensemble. In my book, you're clearly in the top 3 bands in all of HBCU land Norfolk, FAMU, BCU--in no particular order. All 3 groups are MUSICAL, and this musician appreciates that a lot.

Lackluster show. Keeping it 100. They sound good. But the energy was way down. The shorter drum major also needs alot of work. Is her hand too small to hold the mace in the correct place? The legion is known for details.

10-19-22 This show would have been SUPERB except whomever had the bright idea to allow fans to participate on the field during the Band’s Performance are Clueless as to the deterioration to the synchronization of the Bands Performance. All their hard work went straight to the toilet by allowing this takeover. Even if they are former Band Members IT IS TACKY AND DISGUSTING. AN ULTIMATE INSULT TO EVERY BAND MEMBER’S HARDWORK FOR TIGHT EXECUTION OF THE HALF-TIME PERFORMANCE. SHAME ON WHOMEVER STARTED THIS TRADITION THRU OUT THE COUNTRY.

😂😂😂 you must be mad that you didn't make the cut. Nothing was tacky about it. It's a homecoming show. You would have really been mad if you had seen the Legion having the California raisins, Fat Albert, The Greeks, etc for past homecomings. The crowd/alumni loved it and that's ALL that matters. Typing in all caps won't change that.

@@brilliantdiva5068 lol based on the response from alums and people who didn't even attend NSU and were entertained by the show that would negate your assertion. Homecoming is over but the Spartan Legion appreciates you watching our spectacular homecoming show. Stay tuned for next year. Hopefully you can make it on the field next year or even better, get a music degree so you can put what you want on the field.

IF YOU WERE KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT BAND ETIQUETTE YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND THAT IF ONE OF THOSE FANS SUSTAINED INJURIES ON THE FIELD DURING THIS SLOPPY IMPROMPTU FIELD TAKEOVER PERFORMANCE YOU WOULD RECOGNIZE THAT A TRAGEDY WITH POSSIBLE INSTRUMENTS HITTING ONE OF THOSE SOUL TRAIN TYPES ON THE FIELD WOULD RESULT IN AN ACTIONABLE LEGAL CAUSE. BUT THEN AGAIN YOUR BRAIN MATTER IS NOT FULLY DEVELOPED YET. THINK ABOUT IT. AND I PRAY YOU ARE NOT NSUs LEGAL TEAM.
