That explains why nubuck is so much nicer. I made the wallet you made out of a shoe! The leather I have laying around is much softer so it was a bit difficult to saddle stitch. I only had embroidery floss so I waxed it first and it worked petty good. 👍🏻

a side effect of nubuck leather is that with the timbs I have they get shiny spots with wear. most of the tongue is smooth leather, and a whole ton of other small patches have this half-matte half-shine thing that's kinda cool. Im actually really excited to see how they shine up as time goes on, since I certainly haven't gotten all my use out of them yet

i would love it if you did a video on the leather used in, like, a jordan 1 high or something. i've always been curious just how quality the leather materails used on most of them ACTUALLY are.

my understanding is suede is light weight , nubuck is heavy weight. same thickness, suede is lighter i think suede is by product when leather split, its supple, and iirc my suede shoes last 3-4 years, rubber sole give up before suede part dunno how to condition suede, thats why not trying another suede after that lol nice video RM William or Blundstone :)

Could you do a video about how to condition suede as well as how to get rid of mould stain on suede? I have a pair of swede boots that have some aged mould stains. Some video say to use vinegar to wipe off mould. I tried that several times on my boots. Maybe the mould stains became less, but they are still there quite visible. And the swede become very dry after I use vinegar many times to wipe it. I really like your videos. They show things are useful and educational. Thank you.

I've got a question for you, I've got a pair of roughout Redwings in a very light color (Hawthorne Muleskinner is their official name for it) and I want to darken them without using a dye as I find the color to be too light for me. Any thoughts on what product I could use to do this? I've read some suggestions to use mink oil. Any thoughts on that or if anything else might work?

Can you do a video on how to care and clean different types of leather boots. I have water-resistant and all weather leather boots I'm needing to fix scuffs on. Also recommended products.

I do leather work (and many other hand craftings) myself, not a proficionall but it goes hand-in-hand with other hobbies i have. And personally i definetly prefer having the leathers outer part as the outerpart and not sanded, I want it smooth as it is otherwise, with whatever wrinkles it may have. Not sure how big of a difference it makes but as far as i know that side is better at resisting water aswell, assuming you give the leather a coating of fat from time to time. If you dont the leather will soak up anything it can get near.

Interesting channel, I just subscribed. Couldn't find a video on damaged leather, specifically I have a bag and a shoe with cuts in the leather, not as deep as your cut at the end of this video, but the dense grain on the outside is broken up a bit. What's the best way to deal with this? Are those slits going to worsen over time and make the leather tear or fall apart even more? Another question, similar topic, I had a wet leaf stuck to the heel of my shoe for long enough so that now I have a little bit darker lines on the edges of where the leaf was sitting. I don't know how to explain, English is my second language, but it's like there was a wet spot which dried but you can still see the shape of it because the coloring of the leather changed around the rim of the spot.

Yay! Now to actually find some rough out leather boots for women... The illustration helps a lot thanks for that! I own some Toms suede sneakers (waste of $) but also nubuck timberlands (thrift find) and glad I held on to them.

So i bought these lasportiva nucleo II vortex hiking boot and prettty dang sure they are unbuckle exterior. I have a good quality ;leather conditioner that has aloe i think. I want the leather to soften and shape to my foot as i am breaking them in. REI recommend using this NIKWAX NUBUCK and SUeDE spray on waterproof treatmean. Which is best for the leather. ????

The rough out holds a lot more product that you applied to it like waxes and waterproofing agents inherently causing a quick rub or brushing to create better self healing for a lack of better words.

Are the captain matte black boots from thursdays the same leather as the matte black presidents? They seem too different from each other, captains look more like nubuck, and the presidents look more smooth like regular leather
