The Charlotte Ross nude scene on NYPD Blue was risque, because it was full nude on TV. She was the first and only actress from that series to do it.

The Romeo and Juliet suite sounds nothing more than a cash grab attempt to cash in on ME TOO. If they were THAT traumatized, they had 50 years to address it. The photos are a different matter - but unless they were widely distributed, I doubt they had an impact. As I recall (I am the same age as Olivia Hussy, so it didn't feel pervy at the time!), you barely glimpse her one breast. Whiting showed his butt briefly but nothing you could not see on network TV today.

My father took me to see a lot of R-rated movies before I was a teenager, much less 17. I was 9 when he took me to the Kentucky Fried Movie, a comedy with tons of nudity, including a porn film parody. But while I had seen lots of movies with nude scenes, I was quite surprised to see a nude scene in my 9th-grade English class. After we read Romeo & Juliet, my teacher had us watch Franco Zeffirelli's film in class. I did appreciate my teacher believing we were mature enough to see a blink-and-you'll-miss-it " nude scene. My 12th-grade social studies teacher was less daring. After we studied McCarthyism and the Red Scare, she showed us the Woody Allen film The Front. The film didn't include any nudity but did have an F-bomb. I didn't actually learn what the word was until I watched the movie again a few years ago because my teacher stood by the TV and turned off the sound. I found that quite annoying at the time because, by that time, nobody in the class was younger than 17. But I understand why she did it. I later became a teacher myself and did the same thing when I showed my class an episode of South Park. It was the episode where Big Gay Al was fired as a Scout leader, and I used that to lead into a discussion of whether the Scouts should be forced to allow gay Scouts and Scout leaders. There was one word I had to censor, but I don't remember what it was. I do remember it wasn't an F-bomb. I could say I was less daring, but my AP instructed me to censor the word when she gave me permission to show it in class.

I’m a Christian and I never understood the hoopla about “The Last Temptation of Christ”. It did t say that Jesus succumbed to the temptation, it actually showed what would have happened HAD He succumbed. What His life and the world would have looked like which was, in the end, hell on earth and souls lost by the millions. Then He resisted and everything went as it was supposed to happen as the Bible tells us is happening. It was a “what if?” movie, not a this is what happened one. Big deal over nothing much like “Dogma”.

That last one is the only thing that truelly seemed fucked up here. Keeping the actress in the dark to eliciting a natural response to a played sexual assault, still makes it real to her.

Hussey and Leonard happily attended seminars and festivals to talk about Romeo and Juliet for 30 years without any issues with it... and then suddenly sued Paramount in 2023 claiming it was child porn. Not very convincing (as the judge who dismissed it probably thought) - and it's a brilliant film, and generally acknowledged as the best film version of Romeo and Juliet. The nude scene is like two seconds.

Pity that you did not show more of 'Dreamers' where you included a brief clip of Eva Green. She was only 16 at the time and the nude scenes were quite explicit. It also crossed the line over incest.I believe that Green has since suggested that she was taken advantage of.

Yeah. Especially in movies that were slashers. Some of them got in trouble for underage people being nude or in the presence of of age nude people.

I used to work with a man who thought the sex scenes in films were real. He told me the actors were simply paid more money to do them. I told him that what he was describing was called pornography. This and real cinematic film work is different.

Pretty Baby is a film that should be considered philosophically. Sexuality is a normal and healthy part of life, so Brooke Shields appearing nude is not a problem. The issue should be the age of the viewer. There are age groups to consider in pairing sexual interest between the performer on screen and someone in the audience. Any male in his early teens should be able to see the film with guidance about the proper role of sex in life. Any difference in age beyond two years makes viewing the film to satisfy desire progressively more innappropriate. By between sixteen and seventeen, viewing the film should be more emphatically discouraged as the difference in age of the viewer and Ms. Shields widens.

Isn't it about time people got over their fear of the human body in 2024? I don't care if they start showing total nudity on TV in prime time, who cares? No one is going to be harmed by seeing a naked body, not even kids. Children have been growing up in nudist families forever and they turned out just fine.
