Great design by Mr. Razin. I love how he always focuses on natural ventilation and light. Mr Razin may look like an elderly man, but he has modern taste in design. Excellent choice and beautiful owner as well 😀 👍

A nice granite steps over a koi pond to enter the dining area that opens into an infinity pool is a masterpiece. It is visually very progressive, moving gradually from a tranquil entrance to a communal spot to again a stunning view of both water and nature. The amount of natural light is definitely very welcome with the shading wooden louvres to soften the harsh glare of the tropical sunlight. Beautifully crafted. The toilets with a view should be made mandatory for all future housing project when possible. Hahaha.

Absolutely love this project. I think the aesthetic of the house is beautiful with the finishes and material choices. Functionality is key to any design and I like how areas are separated but have a natural feeling to them so it seems like one cohesive space.

Ar. Hj. Razin Mahmood, FPAM Born in Johor Bahru in 1965, Razin earned his Bachelor of Architecture in 1988 from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana USA. He then attached as an Intern Architect with Clovis Heimsath Architects in Austin Texas, USA. Upon returning to Malaysia in 1989, he started his career an an architect with Hajeedar and Associates, Kuala Lumpur and later in 1992 moved to A.Karim Akitek Johor Bahru. He started his own practice in 1996 under the name of Razin Architect in Kuala Lumpur, and relocated his practice back to his hometown Johor Bahru early 1997. Since then, his practice has won numerous design awards and his works were widely published in local media as well as online international design news. He has also been committed in academic activities, appointed as external examiner and adjunct Professor at UTM. In recent years, Razin had given many design talks, he was invited to be a Guest Speaker at UN Habitat Week, Shanghai World Expo 2010, a speaker at Datum 2013, Sarawak Design Forum 2014 and also spoke at TedX Talk in 2016. Razin also participated in professional activities. He was a council member at the Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) and still serving as Vice Chairman of PAM Southern Chapter. He was elected to be the president of Ihsan Johor (Johor Relief) a Non-Government Organisation that promotes volunteerism broadly. Among his major contribution was to design a fast building technique, where a house could be assembled by volunteers within 3 days time. He also setup a dedicated team of volunteers for disaster relief efforts. Today, Razin is actively involved in Iskandar development where he is commissioned to design high profile projects such as Condominium in Puteri Harbour and Twin Office Tower in Medini. Nonetheless, Razin has always been well-known for his high-end bungalows and small-scale projects. Simple and straight forward, yet well-thought of, is perhaps the best way to describe his works.

Lovely but what about security? Most designs are spoilt by grills but only because security is always an issue in Malaysia. Good idea to showcase a house that addresses security and mosquito control concerns WHILE still having a lovely design.

There're plenty ways of securing your property from intruders. Installing CCTV and alarm system has been the prefereble choices these days. Not just the use of grills. Also, judging from the video, I believe the residence built in a gated and guarded property. Its very unlikely for such resident to install grills.

I have watched the previous episode of Mr Razin's house itself and what I can say he is a genius architect indeed. I just curious how architect prevent a drip mould on a cantilever design since Malaysia is a tropical county?
@meonjeng
@meonjeng 2 жыл бұрын
There are solutions. Stainless steel or painted metals borders are sometimes use to introduce a highlight elements that becomes a drip-off point for water running down the facade or extended cantilevers.

Love all your videos and effort put in each and everyone, keep it up! However, I only have a humble feedback, the sound afforded to the person explaining is inaudible most of time in fact soft plus your background music tends to be very loud n drowns out the guests architect articulating his design.

Hi, I’m the owner of the house & I think I can answer your questions. The blinds in the bathrooms are used daily, they are very easy to use. Roll up when airing and roll down when using bathroom. We hardly have mosquitoes as we are quite high. But we do fogged every month.

Hi Alex, I notice the large timber pool deck surrounding the pool. Under our hot and wet weather, do you not have heavy maintenance cost of replacing worn-out timber strips due to warped strips and moisture-damaged strips? The nails may also protrude out of the surface. Thanks.
@ivanteng3125
@ivanteng3125 2 жыл бұрын
Usually these timber deck are using hardwood which are durable enough to last long, the maintenance for timber damage is usually minor, major maintenance often falls on aesthetic purpose for the surface of wood as the colour fade under sunlight and water if you mind the faded appearance
