I’ve been owning 1969 1750GTV Mk.1 for 35 years in Japan since 1986 when I was 26 years old. Beautiful, nice engine, fun-to-drive and reasonably practical, it’s a really nice and ideal car for me. I love it🍀

To me this is the most beautiful sports sedan ever made. Don't comment negatively if you have not driven one, especially the GTV 2000. Wonderful car and man does it look good.

I'm fortunate to own one of these lovely 1750 GTVs. It's a wonderful car and for its almost 50 years of age, one must respect that it is no longer the track and field hero it once was but rather a classic, ageing beautifully, and still a whole lot of fun.

What an amazing coincidence! My name is also Jack, and when I was 23, I bought my 2000 GTV (technically a Tipo 115 as the US spec version). It was a college graduation present to myself, bought on 23 August 1975 (the local dealer still had 5 for sale). It has been my daily driver for over 47 years and it's been as reliable as a Toyota. With well over a million km (currently 646K miles) I have no plans to stop driving it. PS - that cello/viol/piano piece at the beginning almost made me cry. It seemed so evocative of what we have lost in the automotive world since the 105 was made and was as gorgeous as the car. What was it? My guess would be Shostakovich, but I don't recognize it.

Back in 1978 we lived in Germany, and one of my fellow soldiers had a LHD 2000GTV Innezione - in red, of course. He went to Northern Ireland for six months, and gave it to me to look after it. It was not in the best fettle, with a misfire that never quite went away, so it went into the then well-known Alfa garage near Brunssum for fettling. When I collected it the following week, it was like driving a different car - the sound alone was intoxicating, so instead of going back the our home in Rheindahlen, we drove down to Trier instead. We loved it to bits! Happy memories - thanks, Tom, wherever you may be.

your loving detailed explanationof the true personality of this car was WONDERFUL. I've owned a half dozen Alfas over the last 30 years, my last being a 1969 Duetto, a lovely highly modified monster car, realdy to implode at any moment yet a lion at-heart. Your story was splendid.

Wonderful car and another memorable journey. My late father had a 1976 2.0 GTV in black he had five trouble free years and it was his favourite car The love of his life. I do hope Stellantis will get Alfa back to making some great cars again and not just a line of SUVs. What Fiat have done to Alfa and Lancia is nothing short of criminal. My first acquaintance with an Alfa was in this model as a passenger aged 16 , it was a magical ride for me it was an Italian super car!

I love the honesty of this video. It's tempting to believe that if I could revisit my first car, I'd fall in love all over again. But probably not (1966 Ford Corsair when I was 17). I nearly bought a 1967 Alfa GT Junior but bought a Capri 2000 GTXLR instead because it was the 70s and I was an Essex boy. Two cars I'd love to see you cover are the Lancia Flavia 2000 Coupe and, if you can find one, the Alfa Romeo 6C of 1951 (with the fitted luggage). I love this channel - keep it up!

Jack, I had a 105 series 2000 GTV in very good condition with 42k miles from new. Like yours, yours, it was my first car. I bought it when I was 30, in 2010. Loved the exterior design, the sound of the engine up the revs and on the overrun when the exhaust crackled and popped, and because it had the Harvey Bayley handling kit fitted, the car was very responsive too. Brought joy every time I drove it. A proper Alfa and a gem of a classic. The series 1 1750 is the one to go for as you say, as it has the best interior of the series too.

This car must have a worn suspension. I have a 1973 Alfa 2000 GTV and it is not moving around and it hugs the road very well. All new bushes, with some upgraded to poly, lowered and a bigger roll bar at the front. I also have 15" GTA replicas. A friend had to work hard to keep up on the twisty bits in his late Punto Abarth. I have driven the same car with only new bushes and no upgrades/mods, and it too drove very well.

Fantastic refurbishment and review. I can vouch for your enthusiasm. I felt the same of my 1750 Berlina, and my 2000GTV. They were the epitome of that ALFA mystique and feel that enveloped you, and hard to explain to Toyota drivers. My later 1982 V-6 GTV and 87 Milano didn't have as much, but it was there. The 83 roadster had it but cowl shake detracted from it pretty much. The coupes and sedans all had a solid , torsionally rigid structure.

The first "quality" car I drove any real distance was a family-owned nearly new Guilia Super 1600 back in the early '70s - great car. Yes, I aspired to a GT Junior but I once saw a convertible version which was so beautiful I could never consider the coupe again - yet they were rarer than hen's teeth so it never happened.

Had the loan of a 2000GTV when I was 19. It was 1975. To me in was fantastic on my fast bumpy test road. It was a handful of you got it properly unstuck in the wet. The rear would regain traction and the front would then loose grip. A hard balancing act but not as bad as the Fiat 125s I owned. I loved it but could not afford it at the time. Tempted now though.

Thanks for a review of a great classic! Just wanted to comment on your take on the chassis and steering. I owned a 1750 GTV a few years back, which I extensively rebuilt (really extensively!) There are three steering linkages which need to be in good shape, not to mention the steering idler on the passenger side - any slop here and it will have an undesirable effect on steering precision. But here's a detail that may go un-noticed. It's quite common for people to slightly lower the suspension, for a slightly cooler look and potentially handling improvement. However this can negatively impact steering precision. Alfa cleverly designed the steering to slightly toe - in under heavy braking and also whilst cornering with body roll - this tends to sharpen up the feel. Now when suspension is lowered, this effect will either disappear, or worse will be reversed!! I loved the steering feel of my GTV - super precise, responsive etc., especially on super windy roads. Never any wandering or lack of precision that you described. After owning an Alfa I'm generally disappointed with other cars I've driven since! Does anyone think Alfa wound actually design a car with sub par steering?? Cheers to Number 27.

$100K Plus for one of these now in Australia. My Dad had a Mint White Berlina 1750 which he bought new and he sold it back in the late 80s when I was a kid for bugger all. Can't believe it....

Very nice 👍...not sure I agree about 1750 vs 1600 Veloce though..... Scalino ( Step Nose) is the classic iteration of the 105 body .

Lovely car so thanks for the video. Regarding the crunch in the gearbox, fellow Alfisti may want to try the following gearbox fluid: Redline 75W90NS As there are two versions it has to be the “NS” version which stands for non-slip. The other version is apparently no good for the gearbox but used in an LSD. This fluid should improve cold driving and crunches in the gear change. Although I haven’t used myself yet, I’m going to get my mechanic to change the fluid at the next service 😃 Would be interested to hear from anyone who’s already tried it.

I’ve used the oil. It doesn’t matter. Shifts better but if the 2nd synchro is shot it won’t help at all

I almost bought an Alfa GTV back in the early seventies when I was the same age you were when you bought yours. They were asking $2,600 for it and it was light blue. Another dealer was advertising a FIAT 124 coupe for only $2,000 and I figured that would be close enough for a lot less money. I went to that dealer and it turns out he didn’t even know what he was selling, and it was a 124 Spider. I bought it anyway. The choices we make when we’re young and foolish. Thankfully now I’m old and foolish.

Sounds like something’s wrong with the steering geometry. Might have happened when the springs were changed. Happened to my GT Junior. And on these cars if everything is not perfect you’ll notice. Get it perfect and it’s heaven!

Oh, you are a lucky guy. I had an alfa 1600 junior for many years in the seventies and eighties. Would like to have one again- as an1300, 1600,1750 or 2000- but they are too expansive for me now. A decent one starts here in Germany from 30 00,- Euros on. And I am too old now to buy and manage a restauration- projekt. But I wonder if my white 1600 Junior is still alive.

Fair and interesting perspective. I'm hopelessly biased in its favor, having grown up with a 1750 Mk1 (1969), US spec. -- the most elegant GTV of all (the bumpers and side markers actually complement the car). Some more aggressive driving would've been interesting to see.
