@blarblablarblar
@blarblablarblar 9 жыл бұрын
RevucumberTechUSA I think you'd be surprised by the mathematical aspect of simple games like this. The idea of pathing is extremely important in this game, that's why the common winning strategy involves "Just make sure you pick a side and don't swipe the other way." There is actually a branch of mathematics called topology, which is all about pathing.
@0xCAFEF00D
@0xCAFEF00D 9 жыл бұрын
Well to my limited 5 minute exposure of the game the new numbers that pop in every time you swipe are random (where they come up, not where they're located). I'd imagine that nullifies much of the strategy in this game quite effectively.
@Arrica101
@Arrica101 9 жыл бұрын
MrSnowman BlarBlar... is right in what he says, yes the numbers do pop in randomly and most of the time you will get a 2 and occasionally a 4 but in doing what he says i.e never swiping down then you can rack up quite a remarkable score

Don't, thought is thought whether its game related, something that happens irl or cutting edge theoretical. It's just how you context it, for instance there was a problem with arranging proteins or something(long time ago can't remember exact details) anyhow the researchers couldn't solve it so one decided to make a game out of it and gamers solved it in a couple of months.

The most annoying thing about 2048 is that it's more popular than the game it's a copycat of, the mobile game "Threes" In response to the copycats, developer of Threes did a short video documenting the whole process of them developing the game, and the amount of thought that went into it, as well as the aesthetics and music. They spent a year and a half developing the game, in less than a month, it's been copycat twice, with 2048 becoming more popular. A few sites have already reported on it, and it shows the problem with mobile gaming, how so many coders will just rip off other games (Flappy Bird) to make money, or gain popularity. 2048 was developed by an Italian youngster who wanted to practice programming so used 1024 as a launching point (and 1024 ripped off Threes). He didn't expect it to become more popular than the game he ripped off. It's sad to see this happen to hardworking people, not get the recognition they deserve. But as someone who has played both Threes and 2048, Threes is the better game, more charming, great music, funny characters, and harder to beat.

Jarthen Greenmeadow which is a shame. Dismissing the game they were asked to look at without any real effort speaks to character. Gaming does have value in the same way stream of consciousness does. @@ammonkunzler3948 This isn't a discussion board. You can't necro a thread on a platform that places 3 year old videos in your recommended list. Further, a necro is frowned on in discussion boards because the topic of discussion is very likely to have changed significantly in the intervening years. Software gets new versions, games get patches, bugs are fixed, laws are changed, etc. My reply isn't a necro, since the issue I comment on hasn't changed. Nice try to appear relevant though...

There is a massive element of luck involved with it- once you get past a certain skill level. My personal best is 67,000 (I got the 4096 block), but I doubt I'll be able to get much higher than that. The right blocks have to fall in the right places and if you're lucky enough for this to happen to you, then you can play away and go as far as you like!
@styx85
@styx85 10 жыл бұрын
sean ofleen Yeah, I'm around the same level. At that point you need to start really being proactive about not getting into situations where you're forced to compromise your structure. Requires another level of thinking. If you can get to 8192 I'm sure there's plenty of room to get to 100k ;)

Put the highest value tile in the corner. Continue along the edge with successively lower valued tiles. When you get to the end of the row, the next tile goes directly above and then you go back across on the second row. You end up with and S-shaped path of successively lower valued tiles which can easily be merged.
@frederickschulze8014
@frederickschulze8014 7 жыл бұрын
So the trick is to put the highest value number in the corner. Contrary to what some guides say, you do not just want to randomly move your arrows in two directions to make all the numbers go into the corner, because it actually kind of matter where you put your pieces, especially when you're getting close to making a big number because you are using most of the squares. You can choose which corners/sides you want to use, but I typically put the largest number in the bottom right corner. I then have the numbers going along the bottom and sort of zig zagging back and forth. Now that you know what you're aiming for, it's sort of intuition from that point on and also figuring out what works and what doesn't.

The highest screenshot value I got was a 131072 block with a score over 3,4 million... I had the whole spiral starting with a 2. I could undo my moves (used it max 5 times in total :p) but I got a 4 at the end of the spiral again and continued playing. I think I reached more than 5 million points but lost the data after I switched to a new phone....

I think it's all because no matter how brilliant these people are. They're already put off with the little urgency of stretching their entire mental capacity to get to 2048. Because for them this is but a trivial matter, not worth too much of thinking. Now you tell them it's nobel prize for whoever gets to 2048 first and then you'll see them really working.
