Not sure if anyone else has already said this but I looked it up and Matisse Thybulle doesn’t have an “actual” no trade clause. There are a few scenarios where players get veto rights and one of them is if you get your contract matched. The veto rights only last for a year tho. The difference is an “actual” no trade clause lasts the entire duration of the contract.

1 year contracts have an implied no trade clause as well. That doesn't include any options so for example the 1+1 guys all get a no trade clause for their 1 year. I'm not 100% sure but I think non guaranteed years also fall into that. I recall seeing Shake Milton waived his in order to make the deal work.

There was an article that said that he got veto power during the first year of his contract, which was the 23-24 season, essentially giving him a no trade clause. However he no longer has it because he’s in the last year of his deal. Really weird.

For anyone curious about the no trade clauses: “Although Beal is the only player who has an explicit no-trade clause, there are several others who will have implicit no-trade clauses in 2023/24, giving them the ability to veto trades during the current league year. A player who re-signs with his previous team on a one-year contract - or a two-year deal with an option year - is given no-trade protection, unless he agrees to give up that protection when he inks his deal. That group doesn’t include players on two-way contracts, but it does include players who accept standard (non two-way) one-year qualifying offers”

When yall were going through the Olympic teams, in 2016 players like LeBron Curry Kyrie didn’t opt to play in the Olympics because the Zika Virus was so prominent in Brazil and those players didn’t want to take the chance of going over there and getting the virus. Also that wasn’t the year PG broke his leg that was 2014 Team USA Practice

D Mills isn't quite right about the Matise Thybulle thing @35:02. Players can't be traded without their approval for the first year of their new contract once their qualifying offer is matched. We saw the same thing happen when Phoenix matched Deandre Ayton's offer from Indiana in 2022. But that isn't the same as an actual no-trade clause, which lasts for the entire contract. Bradley Beal and LeBron James are the only two players in the league with that.

Kenny was right when someone is a restricted free agent and they sign an offer sheet but their current team matches that offer sheet they technically get a "no trade clause" but it only last 1 year and doesn't and once thsr year is up if they are traded it doesn't follow them. The no trade clause that the guys like Kobe and Bron had is different because it's built into their deals and doesn't expire and follows them to any team they go to if they do accept a trade. Remember Thybulle signed an offer sheet with Dallas but surprisingly Portland matched that offer. This also happened with Ayton with the Pacers and Phoenix.

Another situation that could result in the functional no trade clause is when a team acquires a player but due to their contract doesn't have a player's full Bird rights. Since if they are traded, the next team wouldn't be able to give them a full extension.

Qualifying offers have expiring no-trade clauses. When you match a restricted free agents offer, you can choose to deny the no-trade clause after a year. Lebron and Beal have no-trade clauses that do not expire, just like everybody else on the list Pierre had.
