Numismatic Collectible Coins vs Bullion Coins | The Exchange Podcast | EP. 29 discusses whether people should be buying bullion coins or numismatic coins when investing in precious metals. Not every stacking strategy will apply to each person, so it obviously depends on your personal situation. However, in this video, Andrew and Matt discuss this question overall and if people should generally stick with one type of precious metal over another. Are collectible/numismatic coins better in the long-term? Are bullion coins easier to offload? Which will get you a better rate of return? All this and more is answered in this episode of The Exchange Podcast!

Regarding 8:43, for those who are unaware, in Chinese culture, the number 8 is considered to be good luck and is auspicious and desirable. That is why the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China commenced on August 8, 2008 at 8 pm. On the other hand, the number 4 is considered to be bad luck and should be avoided. That is why in buildings in China, there are no 4th floor, 14th floor or floors with the number four in their names.

Numismatics is what got me into stacking, so I still like to play in that space. Keeps up the passion. But I agree that the majority of the stack needs to be primarily focused on weight i.e., bullion.

If pre33 premiums Are down, I’d buy pre33 (when I’ve been doing the last few weeks) all day long. Both will go up and down with spot value but the pre33 has the possible increase in numismatic value

As a "collector/stacker", I mainly buy RCM made for collector proof gold coins on the after market at prices comparable to gold bars. These are mainly 4 and 5-9's fine. The most I have paid is spot + 3%, but it is generally between -1.5% and +2%. These coins have published catalogue prices, which are quite high and provide a nice value fiction.

Thats not a bad idea and for me I’m a collector of certified silver dollars and a stacker of ASEs and Maples in bullion and GoldBacks in denominations of one dollar, 90% dimes and 18K jewelry & watch & other 14K gold jewelry along with two H&A branded diamonds both a little larger than 1.6 in G color rounds W/papers. So I’m pretty good with my stash if SHTF but if that happens I believe my stockpile of food will be worth more.

Multiple shops in my area will take the gold bars out of the assay and test them and send them off to the smelter after paying you well back of spot for them. They don't want them and they don't even try to resell them. They're like the redheaded stepchild of gold

Andrew did you nearly change your mind at the start? 🤔If they were the same cost to buy at the time I would go for the graded ones because you have a choice to either sell graded or take them out of slab and toss them into the treasure chest. 🏴‍☠️ Coins with low premiums would be my next choice. For pure stacking purposes though I would go for the biggest bar I could afford. I know some just like it in the assay, but it is good to have a choice. 😂 Thanks again gentlemen, I appreciate your banter. 🍻

If I was sending coins to get graded I would mostly go with older coins over up to date ones because I don't really see something like a ms70 silver eagle being much different than a bu none graded silver eagle or a gold ms70 buffalo being much different than a everyday bu one but something like a ms68 Peace dollar versus something like a XF or Ef is way different
@sailfly2869
@sailfly2869 22 күн бұрын
Hey you better rethink on that, being a collector of PCGS silver dollars starting with Morgans back in 2012 collecting both MS64 or better and AU58 most of the AU58s didn’t do as well as the mint states and getting back to the AU58s it all depends on what was released from the mint over the years. As an investor of coins I found out in the long run it’s cheaper to buy slab coins than taking a chance on a coin getting certified plus the cost of shipping and slabbed. Plus you can concentrate on making your collection more uniform in dates and grade level. Old doesn’t always mean valuable, regardless of grade level, just look at the graded ASEs before 2000 in MS70 and then in MS69 and you tell me what is a more pleasing and affordable option.

The gold bars are the most counterfeited of the gold. I buy American gold Eagles & Buffalos mainly. I own no gold bars. Just my.preference. Highly recognized, accepted, & liquid. Plus when you sell them no sort of reporting for any amount sold. For diversity & bc I like them & enjoying collecting & bc they have the potential to rise in value over time I own slabbed St Guadens Double Eagles. I am trying to get a variety of years & MS64 or higher. The premium isn't an issue for me. I plan to own them for ever & pass them down.

Also, we’ve never claimed to know everything. I ALWAYS say I know jack shit about numismatics. Even on my streams when I am doing auctions. I just know my price on particular items and what the comps are. That’s it. I’ve sold things way below their value due to my lack of knowledge. But it also comes down to time which I don’t have. Anytime people ask me questions about numismatics, I always refer them to the red book. They look at me sideways because I have a KZfaq channel and think I’m lying, but I really don’t know much about numismatics.

Another thing about this search is you have completed “sold and not” along with changing ebay filters from most resent to highest first to get an idea what is getting the big bucks and another thing is looking at the bidders history to see how popular this item is.
