Between 1965 and 1971 the Nurburgring hosted the world's longest endurance race: the Marathon de la Route. With races of 82, 84 and... 96 hours!
In 1969 three Torino were entered for the race. The IKA-Renault Torinos were Argentine made cars designed by Pininfarina. Juan Manuel Fangio was the head of a team made up of star argentine drivers of the time.
Recreation of Marathon de la Route from 1969. I drive one of the three Torinos. The race was held in downpour conditions for many hours. But good weather and 24 simulated hours were enough on this dangerous but beautiful Gesamtstrecke: Nordschleife and Südschleife combined into one.
