Welcome back to my channel, today I filmed a pretty long q&a video to get back into the swing of things. 2020 was a pretty difficult year as a new nurse, and as a full-time student (as I know it was for a lot of us). I answered some of my most asked questions regarding my BSN program & life as a new nurse. If you have any other questions or recommendations for videos please leave them down below!

Love this video!! FYI Nurse residency is more common in the south! I’m from NY and we have a few residency programs but not as much as the south and it’s not required at all.

@@DailyDoseofNursing agree with shanielle, I live in massachusetts and it's the same, we hardly have any. It's also very hard to go straight into a specialty here, no one will hire you in ICU or L&D as a new grad.

the hosptial i got into for PCA doesn't have nurse residency and MN doesn't have as much .. usually, RNs are trained and then put on the floor

I’m jealous that you get the opportunity to talk to other nurses about your goals! Our school assigns a student to every single nurse on the floor so if I tell another nurse that I want to put in their iv/foley/whatever, I’d be taking that opportunity away from one of my classmates. I’m hoping that will be different during my preceptorship and I will be able to take your advice! :)

Youngest granddaughter took ABSN course UofHouston graduated 11 months 8 days Summa Cum Laude. Now, L&D nurse Houston Methodist.

I got a job on a medsurg floor straight out of school without being in a residency. Definitely not necessary but I wish I could have done one because you get allot more education!

i just started my absn program and i feel like at the end of this a...how am i ever going to know this material? i feel so beyond overwhelmed, like will i even remember or know any info to take the nclex!?

Hi Jackie! I’m currently in the BSN program and everything I hear is completely new to me. What is a residency program? Are they required?

Hey girl! So depends on your state (I just learned)! Not every state has residency programs. You can always google nurse residency programs near you & see if your hospitals offer them 🥰 it’s basically just for your first year of nursing you get extra support & have monthly meetings!

@@DailyDoseofNursing Nurse residency program are also known as new grad programs in some states. Didn’t think my home state had a residency program for nurses until I looked it up and realized, they do, it’s just called the new grad program.

It was actually a follower recommendation! I get a blonde quad expresso over ice in a venti cup with 2 pumps of white mocha & vanilla sweet cream foam. So extra but soooo yum!! 😍
