You should do a video that is just you repeating words of affirmation and guided relaxation! Just a quick 1-2 minute video we can all have on repeat! ! You’re voice is wayyy more positive, soothing and encouraging then when my husbands says them!!

My mantra during labor started as shifting between 2 notes in a singsong pattern and eventually shifted into "this is how much I love you" or just "Mommy loves you" in a singsong voice to my babygirl. I loved the idea of turning my labor into a "love song" for my baby to enter into the world hearing.

Love your labor toolbox. Helped get me through natural labor all up until I hit 7cm!!! After that, I succumbed to the crazy and nothing could calm me. But baby and I (with lots of help from the lord and my midwife) made it through no epidural. I'm still alive!!! Thanks 🤗

@@Nurse_zabe it went really well I thought! 9 hour labor, I made it to 7 or 8cm dilated before asking for epidural, and shortly thereafter doc said it was time! 10 minutes of pushing and laughing with my wonderful OB and our beautiful son was born. Watching your videos throughout my pregnancy really made me feel informed and eased anxiety.

I just found your channel while looking up pros and cons of having an epidural. I've had 4 babies without an epidural and I am expecting my 5th baby in less than two weeks but the fear of going through that kind of pain is giving me anxiety. I'm trying to decide if I should get one or not this time. My labors have always been 12 hours or longer and the reason for not getting an epidural with the first 4 babies was the side effects and also I hear from alot of women that they suffer from back pain problems during the colder weather. Since the day I found out I was pregnant (which was a total surprise) the first thing that I thought about was the painful contractions and now that I'm so close to giving birth the fear and anxiety is so much stronger. I'm watching a lot of your videos and I want to tell you thank you beacause it's helping calm down some of the anxiety. I still haven't decided if I'm getting an epidural or not but I'm enjoying watching your videos 👍😊

I wish I would have seen these before my last birth. It was the worst experience of my life. There were a lot of factors like platelets being to low for an epidural and being on magnesium, and being induced way before my body was ready for labor (I know it was necessary but still sucked). It is very true what you say, anyone CAN deliver without an epidural, and once you lose control it is very difficult to get it back.
@Nurse_zabe
@Nurse_zabe 4 жыл бұрын
I am so sorry your previous birth was a rough experience. It sounds like you had a lot of overwhelming circumstances surrounding it! From what you describe, it would be darn near impossible for anyone to maintain control over how they dealt with contractions. Honestly I didn’t give birth without an epidural gracefully at all. And that’s ok. We are both rockstars! You especially, mama! 💪🏼💗

On a funny note, I was a support person for my best friend during her labour, and her midwife kept saying “that’s the way,” over and over. It honestly got annoying, but I wasn’t going to say anything because like if it was helping my friend then who cares. After my best friend delivered her baby she says she remembers wanting her midwife to stop or say anything else! 😂

I’m 7 months pregnant with baby #2 and I just stumbled upon your videos. I love them! Can you do a video like this for planned c-section mamas? My first baby was born via unplanned, urgent c-section and as a result my OB is requiring us to have a planned c-section this time around. I live overseas and things are done SO differently here, and after my daughter was born I was told I had to lay flat and not talk or move my head or hold my daughter for 6 hours. I was told this is to avoid a spinal headache. Is that normal practice in the states? I want to hold my baby and start nursing right away this time around. If not how long can a baby go without nursing?
@Nurse_zabe
@Nurse_zabe 4 жыл бұрын
That is not normal practice in the United States, but it hard to say what was going on during the urgent cesarean birth since I wasn’t there. Even when we do have the risk of a spinal headache (often after an epidural that goes too deep), I will help mamas hold their babies and nurse lying flat. Have you checked out my “10 things your labor nurse wants you to know about c-sections” video? That might provide some answers as to what a scheduled cesarean birth would look like. 😊💗
@Lubinzubie
@Lubinzubie 4 жыл бұрын
Nurse Zabe yes I have. Thank you! They make all women here lay flat like that for 6-8 hours after a csection. I live in Guatemala and idk if the information here is outdated or what. The nurses gave my daughter a bottle full of formula before I had even held her and I was furious. So I’m definitely advocating for changes this time around. Thanks so much for your channel and your content! It’s so helpful and encouraging!

Some might. We all (as humans) have biases that we have to constantly make sure are not affecting our care. But our job, regardless of age, race or religion (or anything else), is to make sure you feel safe, educated and supported in your labor. I know almost every labor nurse strives for that!
