I agree, I’m not sure on Williams tbh but I think €30m is far too much for an 18 year old who is not even a guaranteed starter in the Belgium league. Put that 30m and sell Richy and you have virtually the money to get Toney who would absolutely guarantee us 15-20 goals in the league

A big part of the fun of the transfer window is hopping on these runaway hype trains, naturally it's disappointing when they run off the rails but it's important to keep the appropriate perspective. Thanks for the excellent detailed reporting on this story Ali G

Never understood the nusa deal. I can't help but feel that if Santiago let's say was playing some first team football in Belgium (which he is at the level to be doing) we would be making moves to sign him. Considering the profit and sustainability implications it's going to be imperative that we build the careers of our academy players. So for me I want to see more of Dane scarlet, Santiago, soonsup Bell, Jamie donely and the like. I know he's a different player but even troy parrot is showing promise at arguably a higher level the the jupiler pro league.

If nothing happens between now and Thursday we can’t really complain with the business done in this window, some of the areas where we were short have been addressed with quality signings. The club do now seem to have a more proactive approach to transfers, long may it continue.

Dragusin came to us instead of going to Bayern and it was a good thing so how can anyone now complain that Nusa has done the same by going to Brentford makes no sense. The thing is for me as you pointed out he wasn't even starting on a regular basis and wanted some kind of guarantee of first team football which could be problematic if he came here and didn't get it. My view on young talented players is we have an U-21 team that is 11-0-0 these youngsters might also want a crack at first team football, some of them are really good, even some of the U-18's are top of the table quality players there as well. Maybe I'm just biased and want our youngsters to succeed, maybe our youngsters are on the wonderkid level of Nusa but I think it's worth giving them a try.
@neilcalton4 ай бұрын
Thanks, Alasdair for the video. While I was initially disappointed that Nusa seems to have chosen Brentford over Spurs, I honestly don’t think Spurs need yet another talented youngster. As you point out, it has not worked out very well in the past - Clarke, Gil, Spence etc. Also, at the moment you could not say that Nusa is a player who will guarantee Spurs a trophy in the next couple of seasons let alone a PL title. Much more likely that one of the academy players makes a significant contribution in the first team squad before too long.

Good evening, Alasdair . It's great to have another post from yourself. I think Sarr may come onto the bench for Brentford. Don't think he will start due to playing the full 120 minutes last this morning ( Cairns time). I think Kululevski will replace Johnson on the left. Madddison,Bentancur, and Skipp in the middle. Dragon to give VDV a break at the back. So my line up. Vicario, Porro,Romero, Dragon,Udogie Skipp, Madders,Bentancur. Werner,Richi,Deki. Johnson may replace Werner at half time. Anyway, looking at 2-1 Tottenham win. Or the players could really take their frustration out on Brentford and win by putting a bucket load past Brentford. COYS 😂😂😂.

At this stage I'd like Ange to keep circulating the players a little bit, rather than a preferred lineup. From what I've seen, team synergy is pivotal to Ange ball because it's so high risk. The more core players have dropped off injured, the more I feel we've seen those premature runs & crosses with nobody at the end that are costing us & the only way is lots more game time for players Ange wants to keep & not just regular pairings. It might cost us short-term but this is only the start of a new project.

A description of what a lot of football fans aren't: Individuals who consider multiple perspectives, appreciate nuances, and are open to a range of possibilities are often described as having a more nuanced or balanced mindset. I’m not bothered, I think Spurs should go big or go home at LW, it the last position in the starting 11 that needs improving. Also we have Mikey Moore who is even younger with similar potential to Nusa. Someone like Nico Williams who has a 50m euro clause and is slightly older with much more experience would be a better signing, and would be easier to ease Moore into the squad in the far future.

We clearly need players who are more developed and playing at a higher standard of footy than Nusa, who are ready for our 1st team or bench. We need to raise those standards to help us win matches. Yes it's fine for our club to sign young U21 players who might make it through to our 1st team or bench after a loan or two.

He may end up being a world beater, personally I don't think so... if it was that obvious he was a global rising star then Spurs and Brentford wouldn't be the only people around the table, there would be much bigger fish to contend with... and yes "big" clubs may have looked at him... but clubs look at 100s of players, we just don't hear about until these scenarios crop up... IMHO, even at 18, if you haven't got the confidence or will to throw yourself in at the deep end, then its probably a good thing that he moved elsewhere..... no disrespect to his choice, he did what works for him On to the next one....
@rhysjaggar46774 ай бұрын
You're pre-selecting a certain mentality a la Jose Mourinho. That's your right, but there are smoother upward trajectories to success. Bellingham didn't 'throw himself in the deep end at Man Utd' when Sir Alex came calling, he went to Dortmund and played every week from 17 - 19. Presumably you'd have signed him if Real hadn't come calling? There was a shedload of 'failure' in Chelsea young ranks which eventually saw De Bruyne, Salah and others extricate themselves, succeed at lower levels and then become world beaters at City, Liverpool etc. Ollie Watkins went Exeter - Brentford - Aston Villa and Spurs fans have been wishing they could sign him now. Are you calling him too much of a coward for Ange Postecoglou to sign???? He'll probably be in the Euro2024 squad for England, after all....

To be honest judging by our resent history of young wingers such as Sessegnon, Gil, Clarke, Lamela, chadli. Nusa looking else where to develop is the correct decision, despite our vast injury list coming in as a no other choice can’t be a nice feeling for a developing 18 year old. Who will most likely be put into the under 21s once the first team is back. Thanks for the catch up Ali.

I think Nusa has been awfully advised, who's to say he don't get regular game time next season? our front line is lacking. esp if we move sonny up top full time, his competition would be Gil, Solomon and Werner. 3 players that are not guaranteed a future at the club. If that is who he's scared about not getting game time over, it shows the mentality. Dragusin came over even though we have 2 potentially world class CBs and still fancies himself. That's the mentality I want.
@rhysjaggar46774 ай бұрын
Dragusin was given assurances he will have significant playing time, especially next season when barring calamity there will be European football as well. He may well see the next six months as a free hit, settling into London, fitting into the manager's playing system on the training pitch, starting to get some game time and being ready for a top pre-season ready to fire on all cylinders come August.
