Since Andre started doing these versions, I've found the original ones and started listening to them (though I cannot understand what is being sung...but the beauty of the singing and playing is so much that what matters is how it makes people feel!).

Nice! I love how western music embraced Nusrat (Peter Gabriel, Michael Brook, Gaudi, the Asian Underground, etc.) and now Andre! I saw Nusrat perform in Oakland many years ago. I was one of the few non-Pakistani in the audience. Everyone was dressed up so fancy and doused in wonderful fragrances. There was a constant line of people walking up to the stage - during the concert - to place money on the corner of the stage (it must be a Qawwali thing). It looked like one guy put down a large bill, picked up a whole bunch of bills as change, and then proceeded to return all the change on the stage, one bill at a time, bill after bill after bill. Nusrat sounded great and the experience was transcendental. You have done him justice! I love what you're doing in general with South Asian singers.

@@hithere_1967 if you want deeper understanding of these sub genres. The music in subcontinent is of mainly two type hindustaani and carnatic both traces its root from sashtriya Sangeet. Carnatic is mainly used in southern Indian states as well as some influence on srilanka music. Hindustani is more common in northern part of India and Pakistan. Another genre is qawali which was popularized by khwaja chisti in northern Indian(rajasthan),sindh which uses elements of hindustani music and islamic mysticism. Qawali again is very famous in pakistan ,and ustad Nusrat sahab was a master. Ustad in hindustani music means master ,used for people who follow islam While pandit is used for master who follows hinduism .

I don't know many people here know this but one of the best things about these shows that Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan used to do was there used to be alot of improvisation while performing on the spot. If you listen you any of his songs recorded in 2 different places you will definitely see that there is a lot of difference and improvisation. That's why he was titled as an "Ustad" which is "Master" in English because this man was a God level musician. You will never see him giving queues to any of the co-performers anyone in his team can come in steal the lime light with a mind blowing note and no matter where they wander with the notes they always find a way back to the song and that was one of the most beautiful things about his performance. Listening to his songs will take you to a journey.

@@WinterInTheForest”I can’t stand this music” means that you hate it. Just think about that for a second. Do you really hate it? Maybe you just don’t get it? Maybe there’s an element of the music that triggers a negative emotional response? If that’s the case, you gotta figure out why that’s happening and maybe try and resolve it. I personally can’t stand Italian pop music. It sounds so cheesy and it’s always about the same thing. It also pales in comparison to American or English pop music, in my opinion. But, if someone like this guy, we’re to make a fusion remix of an Italian pop singer, make it sound like metal with insane double kick drumming underneath, I would definitely appreciate that!

@@mjt1517 Wooouw, that is not what I am saying... I didn't say anything about andre actually.... I said the singer was officially a muslim, and as such, I would expect him to follow his faith, which clearly says no musical instruments. And then I later added, based on interviews with the singer, I don't believe he was actually muslim, because he said he liked classical music - which absolutely has any kinds of drums. So, this singer would have loved this video..... The reason why he became so popualr is obviously because he was so good. And many muslims (especially westernized muslims) are hypocrites, they enjoy what is haram, then just call it a grey area. They like what we like, but they're not allowed to express it for their faith. So... show this video in an area with sharia and punishment is indeed execution, or at least imprisonment or lashing. There's no way around it.

The videos with the Nooran sisters are funny because they feel like an involuntary collaboration. I can imagine the sisters saying "WTF is this?" and laughing while watching the video. (I would pay to see a reaction video of them watching Andre's videos XD). But this video/track is a serious piece of fusion music that Nusrat himself would've probably agreed to make if he were alive, because the dude was a legit world music icon. He participated in Peter Gabriel's Womad initiative at some point even.

What I haven't noticed anyone commenting on is the fantastic work that André has done in editing the VIDEO and AUDIO in this and other videos. Just the job of isolating the vocal audio from the original video (removing all the background, such as noise and other instruments), this is already worthy of an award. After that, all the work of composing, recording, mixing, resulting in these spectacular works.

i've been decently into metal for a while, and i've also had my fair share of interest in vocals & singing. i have a very good range and good vocal control, since i was born with natural perfect pitch, but all my life i've just heard mostly White American and Western European music, the vocals in this song have STUNNED me because i CANNOT SING ALONG to parts of it. even the most fast-paced Western songs with the craziest notes i heard i can match, and i can even sing along to other languages like Italian, but the VOCAL CONTROL OF THESE SINGERS. and the NOTES THEY HOLD. THEY'RE SITTING DOWN. i can only DREAM to match it. ever since you've been making these metal covers of the Nooran Sisters and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, i've been OBSESSED. i can't listen to Vocaloid anymore because i'm reminded of this, and what the human voice can do, and how nobody has ever even TRIED to bend a robotic voicebank to this level of expertise. you have altered my music taste at a level deeper than i thought possible. congratulations, Andre! if you continue to make these i will continue to gush about them to my friends forever
