KABAR USMC leather handle fighting knife: amzn.to/2kqzsMm
Boker M3 Knife @ CutleryShoppe: tinyurl.com/ydaj76np
Would this be your first choice as a fighting knife? Probably not. But in the days of WW II it was for many troops not issued a bayonet. Material shortages were common and what was needed was an effective dagger style of fighting knife, in line with the school of thought at that time. Boker was actually a manufacturer of the spec'd M3 Trench knife, supplied to US Forces under contract. Examples of a documented real M3 Trench knife with sheath can cost $500. This is a money saving option that will also provide pride of ownership. All details are covered along with some interesting contrasting designs like the KABAR, M70A Zastava, and 1911.

"Would this be your first choice as a fighting knife? Probably not" I carried my fathers M3 for 12 years in the Army. He carried his through WW2 starting at Omaha Beach till the end and then until 1961. It worked well for him as it did for me.

Whenever I purchase a knife with a stacked leather handle, The first thing I do is tree the handle with a leather treatment that adds moisture to the leather. The second thing I do is apply beeswax to the Handle to trap and seal the leather. I will not let you know what brand I use, it’s very common. I never have any problems with my stacked leather handles. most often, I have trouble with my one 095 steel blades rusting then I have with my stacked leather handles. I like the idea of Parker rising my own handles however I found a simple way to seal the blades from rusting. I dip the blade and vinegar and puts a black patina on the blade that most people cannot tell the difference in. and most cases if I purchase a World War II knife that has most of the park Erised finished removed I added two vinegar and you can tell the difference where the remaining Park Erised finish is and where the vinegar patina starts. most often it adds value to my refurbished World War II knife collection. protecting the knife blade with patina stops rusting and sealing the Leather handle prevents dry rot and shrinkage. while adding leather treatment to the stacked leather handle also fixes guard and pommel wiggle.

The F-S has one use only... stabbing! The M3 was a stabler that had added utility. The Ka-bar was a utility knife that could stab. The Applegate (originally Applegate-Sykes) was an improved F-S, designed to have added utility. The FS was issued with a needle sharp point, but otherwise functionally blunt. I bought a new, unissued M3 with the later black plastic , M16 bayonet style grip (knife though, not bayonet) with the M8A1 sheath in 1983, and it was pretty dull too. It had a needle point and semi-sharp edge and bam, but really, it couldn’t cut for toffee!

The ontario takes a lot more work to get it to look nice. Ontario has a nasty habit of not treating their leather handles. If you're willing to darken and treat the leather then it's as good or better, if not, get the Böker.

Boker made originals for WW2, but now makes em in China. Ontario only got started in the 80's making them if I remember right, but makes them in the US. Beater originals can be had for not too much more, in a relative sense for a knife collector.

The Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife, is more of concealable weapon rather then you a typical combat knife, something akin to leg or arm strapped knife, this is a more boot knife while the Ka-Bar is more all around, this on e is dagger for all intents and purpose.

I need to purchase that knife. I have my grandfather's that he brought back from the Korean war with him. Infantry. He saw quite a bit of action and gave it to my dad who gave it to me. I believe you'd like the Savage Ashbury Precision rifle in .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor, as it is a direct competitor to the Ruger Precision Rifle, in the same price range, but it has a 5R button rifled barrel and Savage's accutrigger. It comes in a chassis system. It also has a milspec AR buffer tube that you can throw whatever buttstock you want on, but it comes with a Magpul CTR. This is based on MarksmanTV's review. I do not own one, however, I have owned a Savage 110 HS Precision in .338 Lapua and loved it. I eventually traded in towards a Barrett M98B in .338 Lapua.

You should update your AK vs AR series of videos because the advancement of technologies on both sides, prices are vastly different from 2009. The guns may operate the same as they did back in the day but a refresher would be nice. Something short and to the point. Ps the better camera quality would be very nice as well. Keep it up been watching you videos for a long time!

*M3 is sligtly lighter than the Mark 2 Navy knife and it penetrates better when used for stabbing, "as intended". IT IS NOT INTENDED FOR PRYING and it makes a horrible pry bar. The Austrian Army use a modernized and improved version of the M3. For prying and stabbing the more modern Austrian Made 55 series spring carbon steel of the Glock Field knife ,is preferred. During the design phase... The AUSTRIAN Troops were consulted by Gaston Glock to determine what actually works well, in the field. Balanced for throwing... spring steel to allow use as a prying tool... a sloped point to penetrate well.... Basically it is an M3 with better for use steel and a plastic handle...and the addition of a root cutting saw on one edge. So, without the M3 existing the Glock Knife might look very different.*

I would like to send you a sampling of this product for your full evaluation and unbiased opinion and do a KZfaq video on it. No Holds Barred straight up what do you think opinion. This is not a lubricant and it will not remove copper it is designed to reduce and remove carbon fouling. This product is like anything that's ever been developed before guaranteed to Astound you. The effectiveness of a knife in killing is based on how well it stabs. Stabbing is usually the more effective way to expire an enemy. So this would do better than a k-bar imo. Also I would love to buy another knife but my wife will kill me. She almost killed me when I brought home a morakniv until I told her it was only 13 bucks.
