Yellows whole operation trying to capture the HQ had me going "there's no way blue wins" When blue built that sub, I though he was just memeing, but then with the vision he smashed the yellow offensive. Talk about snatching victory from the jaws of defeat!

absolutely nutty, these always deliver. really loved some of the crazy nutty moves in this game like the infantry moving away from the HQ as well as the "secret unit". My guess was one of the naval indirects but I was wrong

Maybe there was a reason this ended up being strong side and no side vs weak side and strong side. Almost worked. The reason that infantry went north was to check the forest. Made a bit of sense BUT yeeting units instead of just putting up a wall... i don't understand that! I don't know of it was plan a or plan b, but the hq cap ended up being the only out and they weakened their own chances. Despite all that, the sub was clutch (sentences you never thought you would say moment).

In Yellow's defense, I think they was using that Infantry to reveal the Tank they might've seen and thought it was in the Forest. You could argue that the Infantry could've started searching from the South. It would've gotten trapped and then it would've been in range to capture the HQ. But in their defense, imperfect information.

So, regarding the HQ rush issue for this map, what I would have done differently is increase the density of the forests in between the bases and the opposing HQs, and then instead of having all three bases AND the airport in a corner I would have had the uncapped bases placed in the very corners of the HQ quadrants, creating a sort of "strong side weak side" situation with more varied terrain. Honestly, I've looked at a lot of the current global league maps and most of them are really heavy on plains and roads, with only scattered, individual woods. A few are a bit choky with mountains and there's some naval-focused maps but that's pretty much it. Now, I'm not saying the whole map should be woods, that would be a pain. I'm thinking more along the lines of some patches of three, four or five connected forest tiles, situated around other terrain features. That being said, I know that map design tends to have an EXTREMELY heavy influence on the meta, due to how units and COs interact with it. Maps with very light terrain and a lot of roads can buff aggressive COs like Max and Kindle while nerfing more stall-focused COs like Grit or the mass damage trio, and vice-versa. More terrain makes air units, indirects and mechs stronger while less terrain buffs tanks, recons and antiair. And I guess most AWBW players are happy with the way the current meta works and wouldn't be happy with a huge shift.

I had a feeling it would be a sub, given one of the older GL Fog maps gave you a sub near the enemy bases. If Stealth’s are flying recons, subs are water recons. And since recons look like ducks subs should just be called ducks 🤯 Also great match 😂
