Easy clean-up tip. I always spray the bottom pan and racks with non-stick cooking spray. Hot water and soap on a sponge and wipes right off. No scrubbing.

here is an idea, instead of turning it completly over, why not flip it on the side every hour instead. Maybe that fixes the leg meat issue?

Cooking With Jack Show sir you are amazing! I have wanted to see this guy in a real scenario for a while. The reason I didn't just look it up on KZfaq is really that I forgot about it till I saw this vid. Thanks for the vid I hope I get to see you make jerky out if it soon! If it does meats and fish well then I might actually get one thanks to your review of it.

I have the NuWave oven. With a large bird like a turkey, it's not possible to turn it on its side. There would be no room for proper cooking. There has to be space between the food and the heating element; otherwise it will burn.
@dianemilligan3839

I use my NuWave for whole turkey and chicken, and it works beautifully! The 16 lb turkey is a tight fit even with the extender, but it does not interfere with the cooking. Yes, it is always a good idea to increase the cooking time by maybe 5-10 minutes to be sure the dark meat is completely done without drying out the breast meat.

It would have been perfect if you had done 1 hour 15 minutes on top, 1 hour 15 minutes on bottom with 30 minutes on each side. These cookers are amazing!

The color of cooked poultry is not always a sure sign of its safety. Only by using a food thermometer can one accurately determine that poultry has reached a safe minimum internal temperature of 165 °F throughout the product. Turkey can remain pink even after cooking to a safe minimum internal temperature of 165 °F. The meat of smoked turkey is always pink. And he said the breast meat was at 165.

The breast meat was at 165. It was fully cooked. The thigh area (as I showed in the video) didn't fully cook. That is why I said to put your thermometer at take the thigh to 180 if you use this device. The uneven cooking comes from the heat being so close to the breast meat and further from the thigh. A few minutes more will finish the job.

It seems that if you used a smaller bird, and a thawed one it would work even better. I think the size of the bird hindered the heat from getting down and around the bottom of the bird. Hence why the sides were pale, and the thigh meat not done. I mean you loved it with a frozen bird. Imagine one thawed and seasoned before hand.

I got my stepmother one of these a few years back. She made the most delicious turkey I have ever had with it! Here's a tip though: put a piece of aluminum foil over the top of the turkey once it's good & brown. The foil will keep the breast meat from getting overcooked while at the same time extending the cooking time enough so that the other parts of the bird also get properly cooked through. I know that air fryers and 'smart' pressure cookers -- both of which are awesome -- have somewhat stolen the show here recently, but these NuWave Infrared Ovens still work everybit as well as they did when they first came out!
@bodguard1988

I have the nuwave and use it at least 3 times a week it is awesome. On that Turkey if you would of just put some aluminium foil over the breast towards the end that would of kept it from over browning. I just did a 6 pound whole chicken tonight came out awesome. Everything comes out really juicy. I've done pork tenderloins, beef, bacon brats, burgers even made Brownies. It is truly a "kitchen gadget" that really works.

We have a much older unit that is about 30 years old that has a glass Pyrex instead of plastic. It uses much less electricity than the oven. If your oven is not convection, I recommend this cooker. But our range has convection, so we don't drag out the counter top gadget, since we don't have a lot of counter space to store it. A good test could be a tough pot roast, like brisket corn beef, will it come out nice and tender?.

+Cooking With Jack Show Jack, the cooking unit isn't supposed to be removed when you open the NuWave Oven. There is a stand to rest the entire top portion of the unit including the top dome cover. You keep the cooking unit locked on the dome and just pick the hole thing up and lean it on the rack that is hooked on the side of the base. That way when you are finished turning the food you just pick up the dome and heating unit and place the entire unit back in place without having to re-assemble it. Plus you don't have to find room on the counter to place the heating unit and the dome. Try it, I'm sure you'll find it much better to use and easier as well. Also, you might want to flip the shorter rack upside-down to make a little more room at the top of the oven to help prevent the burning of the turkey breast, I agree with you on the thermometer placement and tenting 1/3 of the way through is probably the best. as you noted

I cook a whole defrosted turkey or chicken (rubbed in oil or melted butter with garlic salt or herbs) in the NuWave- but the secret is to fill the bottom pan with water and, after cooking, let it sit 30 mins or more in the machine before taking it out to eat. It’s so moist and tender it tastes like heaven. Also I take it apart and put it all the the dishwasher- super easy clean-up.

I cooked a turkey in my nuwave oven, but i thaw the turkey and i injected with butter rosemary thyme spices but the bottom line it was cook all over the whole turkey oh and i stuffed my bird. I just like to tell you that you have to put you have to bend the wings underneath turkey then once you see it get a bit brown on the skin you put that plastic paper to use cookies for when you make cookies . So your turkey will not get burnt then you keep on cooking. I had my nuwave oven without the dome ever Breaking it's about 9 years old and i use it almost every day. I paid in Canadian dollars $40 it's a pro nuwave oven. Well the turkey came out awesome and not dry anyway on the turkey. Oh yeah just to let you know you leave the plastic on the turkey for about 35 to 40 minutes you just don't take it off it's the turkey not a chicken so once you have left the plastic then you start to take the plastic off and clean inside the turkey and it will not be to cold to work and clean the turkey.

So for that money I'd buy a nice convection oven that doesn't take up half my counter space...another reason I would not buy it, it's huge! Thx for the information and the other trials.

I've had one of these for approximately three years, when they first came out, love it. I don't use the extended ring to do the ff and chicken nuggets. Easy to take care of and hasn't broken or cracked. It might crack if you threw it on the floor. The top heater unit locks on to the dome easily with just a twist to the left.

Cool, thanks a ton Jack! I have been staring at these things and all their variations since they first came out on infomercials. I'm sure I can find one secondhand somewhere for dirt cheap. This would be great for cooking in the summer when it's too hot to turn on a real oven.

Yeah, while I was waiting for my order of the Pro Plus to come in, was talking to my sister in OH and she told me she had one sitting there that she got at the Salvation Army for $10! She was coming to MI that day so she dropped it off to me to play with.

I know! I had a spare extender ring so I drilled holes in it so I didnt have to tent the dome, risking knocking it over. I use that for baking and dehydrating, just did dehydrated mushrooms and made mushroom powder! Granted this isnt going to take the place of my L'equip dehydrator but it's great for small batches!

***** Well if that's all you got, I'll give another suggestion. I found these 4 dollar 2 inch collapsible racks on amazon, and you can buy another extender ring, drill the holes in that one with a bunch of racks and wont have to buy another dehydrator. May not be as elegant as a Excaliber or L'equip, but will definitely save you a bunch of money and space.

Cooking With Jack Show there's a good video on here about it where Jennifer does beef jerky. I'm gonna try it with my jerky press.
