You gotta fly straight, flare, then dodge with these things. It works, depending on the range. Side aspect is far far tricky because once you start to dodge after flaring to trick the missile, there aren't any flares left on the missile's fov because you've been flying away from the deployment point obliviously.

It was not a limiter it was a funny interaction with gaijins engine and the F-16s model that caused the higher surface area control surfaces that were supposed to provide better maneuverability to instead lock up when you were going too fast but it’s fixed now on all varients

Dont ignore the fact that the smt is a ton heavier than the other mig 29, still produces the same thrust and received an fm nerf on the dev server. Seems like a temporary way gaijin "balanced" the plane at launch. Should change because no mig 29 has a turn rate similar to that of the phantom (which the smt in game does).

The RWR is going nuts because it detects the launch aircraft’s radar communicating with the missile. Which is why pilots call out the Fox codes (1,2 and 3) this let’s friendly pilots know that you fired a missile and it’s nothing to worry about

Well yes but that's not the point. The point is, it's giving launch notifications when it shouldn't be. Like when people are IN FRONT OF YOU by several KM, and pointing in the same direction you are. You'll STILL get RWR notifications from your friendly, which is impossible IRL. That's the point here. Not that it shouldn't be happening at all, but that it's happening when it shouldn't be.

If you want to flare AIM9M you have to flare, go straight for a moment and then turn, it mostly works when sideaspect

@@intlon4299 I was really stoked for the R73 but either I'm having terrible luck with it, or it's real flare hungry. Feels if someone flares rear aspect it eats the flare more way too often. Between the mig 29 nerf, the SMT just flying like a brick, and the R73s feeling underwhelming this patch is a disappointment. The 9m on the other hand feels incredibly strong, and the F16 now turns on a dime...

@@TrampMachine From my experience the R73 is much better at sub 2 km range while the 9m claps at higher ranges. It is very easy to flare if you get the hang of it, but not many people do.

You probably already know this but that launch tone is not a glitch but an actual thing.. if anyone launches a missile within your area it will go off even if its not tracking you.. it also helps players to be more aware :3

R73 should have it's flare resistance at least comparable to the 9M. After so many people complained, it was gimped hard, now it's around the 9L level, maybe lower.

@@mastergun57 MiG-29SMT is complete ass thats carried only by missiles, Gaijin completely butchered the MiG-29 flight model this patch while buffing the F-16, even the MiG-29 9.12 flies noticeably worse the SMT puts on another tonne while keeping the same engines, even the F-14A dunks on the SMT flight model wise.

Bro Sim is a BLAST right now. So many Nerds in Mig-23ML'S and Mig-29's whose only concept of BFM is "pUlL StiCk & tUrN". It's a Blast putting these guys in a (trigger warning) 2 CIRCLE and watching them fall out of the sky in the F-5 / F-14B.

You're allowed to employ grey matter too, obviously early match a rear missile launch at you = Doesn't make sense. Complaining like what most people do these days gets you nowhere and that's just the way War Thunder is, if you can't keep constantly evolving your state of awareness & know off the top of your head what's good when & where, you're gonna suffer in top tier.

The launch system is based off of these "beams" or "pulses" of friendlies or aircrafts launching their missile, it does not always specifically tell you that someone has launched a missile intended to kill you but it helps you to be more affirmative and confirm that someone has indeed launched their missile if someone in front of you RWR locks you and you see them flying towards you in a headon. Hence why pilots in the real world call out "Fox 1, 2, or 3" to communicate with fellow wingmans that they have fired and that their launch pings are not actually the enemy's but theirs.

the rwr update, just points at the glaring radar issues. you dont have to be the one locked, or fired on, and it will think its you, it was like this before aswell, if someone near you is locked, or has locked someone, it will think its you, if someone close has been fired on, it thinks its you. before it was just lock tones, so it wasnt as obvious.

Smokeless missiles is a bit of a problem in a fairness standpoint. I am always trying to pay attention behind me for smoke. Now with these, with the flare restience seems broken.

2:40 There seems to be a misunderstanding for the RWR system in modern planes. An RWR detects if a missile was launched in the vicinity of your aircraft. It detects of course if someone locks and shoots at you too. However it seems here that you don’t have the warning of a lock or shot fired. So it is just detecting missiles in your general area.

Not yet, not enough 12.3's in the matchmaker to make much of a difference and everyone is using 11.3-12.0's to grind the new planes so you still get constant uptiers. Give it a week or two and it will actually be really nice once enough people unlock the F-16C and MiG-29SMT uptiers will be far less common.

Been doing quite alot of 1v1s against the f16c and using the f16c. It's just boring playing the f16 in dogfights against the mig29 since it's energy retention is so bad they honestly have over buffed the f16 to the point where you have to be an idiot to lose now.

@@roadhighersame goes to mirage2000. they just killed its manoeuvrability at low speeds. it looses control and literally falls out of the sky at 200 knots, while in reality it was pretty stable even at 40 knots.

The 9M is very easy to flare if you know what your doing. The IRCCM works by turning off and on the seeker when it sees flares. So to flare it all you have to do is flare. Then switch directions.

Might just be, no radars at top tier are really affected by chaff, and notching, terrain defending or ground hugging is the way to go now.

I was running flares reinforced since before this patch even dropped, idk i just feel like chaff is unnecessary at top tier since we have a better version and a chaff that renders SARHs at top tier complete useless giving me SARH immunity, and its called planet earth. Flares reinforced is the most needed rn in top tier. And the earth chaff is infinite, the only time i got hit when I was flying low was an AIM-54 that detonated into a house next to me and the splash damage ignited by fuel tanks.

The aim-9M will be VERY deadly in SIM but I feel Air RB the only missiles that should have the diamond are Radar any IR missile should of no diamond until it gets within 0.7 miles Also this update made the F-16 very good no more G limiter its great now the F-16 can compete with the Mig-29 now instead of the Mig-29 being the Top dog always

They way over nerfed the mig 29s. The SMT flys like a brick it's insane how bad it is, and idk if it's just me but the R73 just feels like it eats flares super bad. I know the R73 is supposed to be better side aspect but it doesn't make sense that it'd be as bad rear aspect as it is. I'm enjoying the F16C but it feels like its so fun in part because how bad the mig 29s are after the nerf. Honest to god it feels like I'm flying a delta wing. End up treating it like a mig 21 which is beyond stupid.

It's funny when you guys call it "flare resistant", when ignoring how it's IRCCM works. It won't ever go after flares, unless you make it lose you from it's FOV while it's seeker is turned off. How could you even get to such a high BR, when you are not willing to learn how stuff works? Just that you say "it ignores flares in side aspect" proofs that you have no clue why.

@@_Joob but you the whole game is about progressing technology. There is no way around learning, and especially not in the future. The result is only the same, if you don't learn. I can deal with them just fine most cases. Furthermore we are going into an age where you aren't meant to play the same as vietnam war era --> missiles shouldn't be reliably dodged/flared --> adjust playstyle.
