Great interchange and terminus stations are always fascinating. Penn station has such a great history and the engineering in putting it under street level (and the Hudson tunnels) were and are heroic. Watching trains make their way across the complex trackwork is always fascinating. When I was commuting to and frrom London's Waterloo station I always used to make time to go and watch the trains there coming in across similarly complex sets of pointwork. Great video - many thanks.

LIRR uses west side yard for midday storage and uses tracks 18-21 almost exclusively. LIRR, NJT & Amtrak share tracks 5-17 from time to time. Finally, NJT almost exclusively uses tracks 1-4 because they end in bumper blocks at the east end of the station.

Love from India and I love the station. In India there is mostly rush and if this station was in India then the full platform will get covered with people. In India the maximum coach limit of passenger train is 24 coaches and its common coach limit. And if anyone is visiting indian then I will recommend you to travel in konkan route which starts from roha and ends in mangalore in day time in monsoon or rainy season because then you can see the beauty of konkan mountains.

Yes. Amtrak has photography guidelines. If you have a ticket you can photograph anywhere in a public location on their property as long as it's a handheld device and you're not interrupting anyone. Buy a ticket for a train a few hours ahead and photograph away. You're just simply waiting for your train and killing time

Why are there two doors at the ends of the double decker NJ Transit cars? Is it one for upper level and one for lower level? On the subject of doors, they are quite sparse on the commuter trains. In Europe this would be seen on intercity or regional trains, but on commuter trains, like on subways, you want faster boarding and de-boarding of the train because of the many stops.
@ilovelolsurprise34196 ай бұрын
Because then they won’t have to turn around when heading the other direction
@benjaminnieva6016Ай бұрын
That's correct. The doors at the ends are for low level and high level platforms, while the doors towards the center are for high level platforms only.
