NYC Reservoir Fishing - 10 lb Brown Trout Caught Trolling

After 7 years of obsessively fishing these city reservoirs in pursuit of a giant brown trout, I finally put one in the boat. 31” 10.5 lb.
My preferred method of targeting these fish is trolling for them with leadcore line and metal spoons. The big ones don’t come easy this way, but it is so rewarding when you get one. A lot of drama trying to get this one in the net!! Forgive me for the wind noise and language, still figuring out this whole videoing thing.

Beautiful brown my dude. Excellent content. I’m obsessed with trout especially very large browns in small streams and rivers. I live on the battenkill river ny/ Vt border. The Adirondack s are the best for variety, I have a spot 6 miles in , in the Adirondack s on a day like today you catch 5 species of trout lakers, brookie s, giant splake, the darkest bows you’ve ever seen and some toad browns. Dm me I will show you, catch is you must be blindfolded for a few minutes. But after two three days camping eating smoked trout and catching 100 plus specimens, you will say when can we go again. Those secret spots, lol. Excellent work

That was epic bro. From that thing goimg crazy 1st attempt at the net, the the other line and it just not wanting to turn. My anxiety was getting me lol. Way to stay calm and focused, so sick you got that fish on camera and got the bite on film.

Great video , which reservoir is this if you don't mind me asking , also do you need a permit for the boat ?

I’ll say that it’s a reservoir up in the Catskills… and yes you need a permit for the boat. Boats must be steam cleaned by and registered with DEP. Boats must be left on the reservoir. No motors allowed. Look up NYC DEP Boating For Anglers for more info. Thanks for watching!

That fish could have been revived. Sad to see a fish of that size killed. They don't do skin mounts much these days. No need to kill the fish. I have fished the NYC water shed for 40 years from boats.

@@vincentlivoti4184 I catch hundreds of trout from these reservoirs every year. Probably about 95% of what I catch gets released. Plenty of them being those 5-9lb class fish. I’ve been after a 30+” 10+lb brown for many years. So this first one was special and I chose to mount it as remembrance. I think the skin mounts come out much better looking, way more realistic and true to life than most replicas. So, to each their own, but I can sleep at night knowing that I do more than my fair share of conservation for the resource.

@@BrandonMallonFishing I understand. Glad you are able to return most of what you catch. I agree skin mounts look best. My Dad has a skin mount of a 42 lb. Striped Bass Cart surf casting near Jones Beach back in '68. When they had big blackout. Back then they didn't do replica mounts. Only real skin. Still hanging in my parents living room.
