Thanks for your vlog, Chantal. I am a new subscriber and love the insider perspective of exploring NY. I am finally traveling to NY in October next year after wanting to for at least 10 years! I only have a week but I am getting some excellent ideas to visit some more out-of-the-way places. A book review is Robert Galbraith's Strike series which is set in modern-day London. Flawed but likable protagonists, skilled prose, intricate plotlines, and relationships that develop over the series. I also love Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache series, having discovered her books through Jilia Louis Deyfus's podcast. Reading them has re-ignited my desire to travel to Canada and that's why I get to visit NY at the end of the trip.

Red Hook looks cool. It doesn’t even seem like NYC. How do I get there from Greenpoint? Can I take the subway or would it be better to take the ferry?

I have been to Cobble Hill many times. Love Books are Magic. I recommend Berlin by Bea Sutton. It’s about this girl who moves from London to Berlin to find herself. Also love this novel called Old Enough by Haley Jakobson, it’s a coming of age story about a bisexual college student coming to terms with abuse in her past.
