Love these! They bring back so many memories of going to the drive-in with my Mom and Dad, though I usually fell asleep in the back seat halfway through the movie. I especially enjoy the clips of the local businesses, now all long gone I'm sure. I must confess, I never saw an ad about saving standard time; anyone know what year that might have been? Thanks again for the trip through nostalgia land.

You know I am glad that I am not the only one that experiences these ads that way. I have taken to playing compilations of the things when I am drifting off to sleep. I set the sleep timer on the TV to shut off after I have gone to sleep.

Miss the Saturday nights at The Mission Drive in in San Francisco in the late 60s, early 70s. Very, very good times!

The local ads are wonderful and are a nice contrast to the cartoons and the other food commercials.

Ahh, those classic drive in theatre ads. I remember when I saw them as a kid at the old Golden Glades Twin in the early 1970s.

All of the horror routines couldn't possibly have happened at the Drive-In, could they.?

No, very few in fact. Most were in walk-in theaters which had stages in front of the screen.

It's amazing how few drive-ins ended up with their intermission bumpers surviving, so that we can see them in comps like this. I am very entertained by your providing this intel, EAS. Thanks, and by all means, carry on.

Out of curiosity..... How much was a Hot Dog, a Hamburger, a Soda, Pop Corn, etc. I went to the Drive in's during the late 50's and very early 60's but (honestly) I can't remember how much anything cost. I was young then (turned 5 in 1956) and cannot remember what they cost.

@@kdkatz-ef2us We were lucky. My father was a math guy (something like that). We moved to Florida in the 60's. We had 2 babysitters, but please remember we brought 15 kids to the drive in. Giving 1 babysitter 15 kids was pretty much out of the question. Thank you for your response !

Believe it or not, I did some online research. For example, Rapier's Discount Dry Cleaners [14:46], at 117 North Columbus Street, is no longer at that address. A hair salon called "a 10 Brow Studio" currently occupies that space.

These ads definitely brings back some very warm, fuzzy memories of going to the local drive-in with my parents and siblings, in Oakland, CA, back in the late '70s and early '80s. But, I must say, that is the nastiest looking food I've ever seen! That "pizza" is the absolute worst! 🤢
