We had great fun on Chris Lovell's garden railway this year. In this video you'll see several times of an engine turning on the triangle as well as many of the runs starting and ending in the station area. You will also see a couple of times when an engine had to wait for a crossing movement ahead. So satisfying to represent prototypical operation.

BTW as it was filmed over two days. Can you spot any continuity errors :-) I spotted a couple after uploading :-(

Great videos. I'm wondering if the track maintenance is a lot of work? I know that you also have a ground level railway as this one is partially, does that add a lot of effort over a raised track?

Ground level track on a firm foundation (e.g. concrete base) and the track glued down is relatively easy to maintain. Indeed much of my track all I need to do is sweep off the leaves / grass and then run trains. I can run my petrol lawnmower wheels over the track without damaging it.

Most use a combination of nickel silver or brass. you can use tin plate as well. Of course the boiler is of copper with PhBz for the boiler fittings.

at 15:20 Alex is topping up water mid run using tender hand pump - is it because loco has no axle pump, or because by-pass has been set "incorrectly" ? Thank you, as usual for another great video 👍

The loco only has a hand pump in the tender so Alex has to periodically pump up the water. The same on the J27 and L1 that John is driving. I included the shot of Alex because of comments on previous videos asking to see more of the operation of the locos not just them running .
