There cannot be a more detailed unedited garden room tutorial out there!
Prove me wrong!!
Day5, and, well, its hard work, and really boring now!
When you're used to everyone on site, and then everyones gone, its quiet!
Try to remember, this series is about, 1 man, building a garden room with as little tools as possible with no help.
Ive tried to use what's available and currently I think Im doing ok.
Framing hammers can go F**k them selves!
build pack available @

You have a new follower here... I've built a few timber buildings and I admire your pile and shoes systems, I usually dig out and concrete a pad.. Making sure osp over sails the sides. Ect. Exactly the same, really only more concrete.... lol id probaby use 2m³ of c35 for that area lol. But also doing these "alone" and without a nail gun...you account and realise how much you are more efficient with a extra pair of hands and a nail gun. What you have done by your self is impressive, for 5 days and has inspired me to upload content of my own.

If you hit your finger on any impact injury, run cold water over it for at least 10mins if you can, the colder the better, ice cold if you get it. Won't swell up or bruise hardly at all. Great test with the drill bits. Dewalt black impact rated flat wood bits are designed to go through wood with nails in, if you hit a knot hardly slows it down and stays sharp, a treat to work with. All the best, Pete 👍

Your videos are so good - Thanks! Do you cut the end of the rafter vertical to the ground or leave it square? If you leave it square, the facia will be at a slight angle matching the slope of the roof. If you cut it vertical to the ground, you would also need to cut the side beams and trim at an angle. Choices choices!

Hi Liam, I am an electrician up here in Central Scotland, I would also recommend the bosh expert spade bits, I use them all the time, for drilling joists and Timber and plasterboard. What I would say is if your using a powerful drill like Milwaukee, be careful as if the bit suddenly stops the kick back can hurt the wrist. Or if your drilling an upright timber in a partition, it can hurt the knuckles 😂😂😂

hi mate i know u sell plans... onlyplans haha i love it! do u have plans for builds that go below ground level? i want to make a garden gym and need the height over around 2.4 on the inside! im thinking to digg down mot type 1 sand dpm over sized and concrete slab below ground level then use blue bricks 2 layers high 15cm to come level with the ground and pull the dpm over the brick and onto the then build and back fill with grey white stones around the slab and bricks so rain water will drain to soil but this sound good on paper but im not sure how it will hold up over time......
@thegardenroomguru
@thegardenroomguru Ай бұрын
hi kinda like a French drain, you would be better digging a perimeter around the build so you had nothing touching the sides as ideally and cladding would want to be 150mm above any ground level, not always possible, but ideal. It's more work, but you're digging down anyway, so might as well do this. you'll need to watch for additional surface water build up too as you've now dug down.
@bradparsons3973
@bradparsons3973 Ай бұрын
The can the perimeter around be back filled in anyway? As I'm doing it without planning permission so I need ground level to be level at the bottom to keep under the 2.5m from what I understand! I want to take on the job but it seems very daunting to do below ground build
@bradparsons3973
@bradparsons3973 Ай бұрын
Just looked up French drain I understand what u mean now, and yes the water build up could be very bad, I've been watching your newest videos in the back yard and the trenches u have dug for footings filled so much this is something I would want to avoid

If I wanted to modify your build pack by creating a 4m deep room, would that still be achievable with the same roof construction? I guess the pitch of the roof will be shallower, but would the joist need to be thinker too - and if so, that would raise the roof height. I also wanted to split the space in two (shed/room) so wonder if it would be worth creating the stud wall after the roof has been erected?
