So a cracked concrete crown is more dangerous than a tile flue system with huge cracks caused by thermal shock during the chimney fire(s)? You would think once the flue gases can escape the tile liner, wouldn’t it heat up the brick structure and possibly the wood framing around it. Better get that crown sealed.

Which chimney should be higher ? i have the same set-up. my 20ft stove chimney id the same heighth as my 8 foot fireplace chimney. the stove side sucks down the fireplace smoke often

It’s not a height problem. Basements usually have negative pressure, which wants to bring air in. Also, the fireplace running is creating a vacuum and the lower level flue system attempts to pull in the replacement air. If your stove was connected to the proper sized liner, it would be a sealed unit and as long as the gaskets on the stove are good, no back draft will occur. You are experiencing a pressure problem.
