Obeka, Brute Chronologist | Token Copies of Everything! | $150 EDH/Commander Deck Tech

Obeka, Brute Chronologist ends the turn early, even if she has to punch her opponents into next week to do it, which means us getting out of trouble on our own turns just became easy! This deck focuses on ending the turn as soon as we reach the beginning of our end step, but also has a few Myriad cards that may demand that we do it earlier than that. With this deck we’re going to create hasty tokens of our opponents things, and beat them up with copies of their own stupid creatures. We can also create vast swathes of elementals with some of our cards, or play around with the graveyards so we can make copies of creatures long dead, and we’ll be punching with the past.

I would also recommend considering some cards I did not put into the deck. Running Sakashima of a Thousand Faces and Mirror Gallery could be fun. I also did not add any encore creatures, like Araumi of the Dead Tide, even though he'd be a solid add. I was torn on all of these, so let me know in the comments if you think I should have added these as well!

Cursed Mirror is a good (red only) mana rock. You get the choice of having it enter as a copy of any creature until end of turn. Though it'll change back, this makes it easier to copy or screw with your enemies.

I've been waiting for a deck that could use Echo Chamber! Also Pemmin's Aura can protect Obeka and untap her if needed. I'm going to build my first commander partners deck and I've decided to go with Keskit and Glacian. How would you build these two?

Yeah, I was pumped to put Echo Chamber into a tech! I'd recommend Pemmin's Aura as an upgrade over some other protection spells, but there were so many $5-15 cards I had to cut to get it into the budget, that Pemmin's got the boot as I cut the untap shenanigans. Good suggestions as always, crovax 13!

@@crovax1375 I did not. The obvious choice is Artifact tribal. Immediately my mind goes to payoff cards. Aetherworks Marvel and Last Laugh could be interesting. Tamiyo, the Moon Sage, too. Artifacts that trigger on both entering the battlefield and the graveyard would be good, like Ichor Wellspring, Mycosynth Wellspring and Servo Schematic. Spine of Ish Sah would be expensive removal, but very abuse-able. Terrarion would be a really nice ramp spell in the deck. The Fabricate ability would be great in this deck, too! Tell you what, you've got me interested. I'll do a deck tech for this and post a video. I've got one other video I'm currently editing together, and after that one I'll do Keskit and Glacian.

Hold up I thought the rulings about Oblea’s abilities were basically anything with “at the beginning of the end step” would be canceled but anything with just “at the end of turn” would not be cancelled, because the end of turn does activate with her ability, but the beginning of the step is passed by. Not too sure though, she’d be even better if this wasn’t the case.

You were not misinformed, that is the case. I was very careful when it came to that wording with this deck, and the only card that can't be cheated that way is Mob Rule, which is here mostly as a "turn the tables" kind of card. Any others that appear to be "until the end of the turn" in this deck rather than "at the beginning of the next end step" are actually older cards that have oracle text that modifies them to "at the beginning of the next end step". If you don't feel safe about that, I welcome you to look them up on the Gatherer website, just to be sure I didn't miss any (I may have, accidents happen). Thanks for asking about it!

Mob rule is good but it doesn't interact with Obeka.

You do know threaten effects dont work with obeka.

Yes, I was careful to only put Mob Rule into the deck because of that. The intro was already written, and edited together before I realized that issue, so sorry about that part!

@@UncommonCommander no worries, just didnt want you trying it to have someone call you out on it. There are also a few interesting reanimation effects that work with her.

@@Pupalah I appreciate what you were doing! :) Indeed, there are some nuts things you can do with reanimation with her, like Dawn of the Dead. I decided to go with just a few reanimation cards, as long as they fit the token theme, but reanimator as a theme was very enticing!
