Amare should of went top 5 in his class (he went pick #9), and these are all unique and different players, Toppin is not the other guys and not saying he is better but his own style. I see a little bit of Diaw and Diaw was taken 21st, and wasn't a good 3 point and FT shooter. Toppin has the passing of Diaw, and is a better shooter than Diaw, and is a better athlete. May not be as high IQ, but I think the IQ is good enough and possibly above-average since he has the charisma and loves the game has the passion and excitement in his celebrations as Diaw. He should be able to get the assists and rebounds. He may not be as good as Pau Gasol who went #3, but he will be a better 3 point shooter and spread shooter, including the mid-range. And the shooting touch is about the same, if not better. Pau had great footwork, so that's another aspect. The questionable aspect is the post strength, but I will say he will improve there. I think people will fall in love with him regardless. He looks somewhat Middle eastern or east Indian or something, kind of Arab. And those kind of fans will love him because they might look like him.

Its a good question. Might be the same reason Steph Curry wasn't talked about much at Davidson, just not in a power conference. Difference being that Dayton was top 5 ranked in the nation, but the tournament would've really helped to bring Obi's stock up.
