In this After Effects Tutorial, you'll learn three different ways on how to animate an object along a path. Knowing how to do this, safes you a lot of time in the animation process and gets you great results with little effort.
The first way of moving an object along a custom path is: Using solids and masks.
The second way of animating along a path is: Using shapes layers.
The third way is using shape layers and trim paths.
Everybody has a different approach of creating animations in After Effects.
What is your way? How do you animate shapes along a path?

Using the trim paths is quite clever! Thanks for sharing this. I usually use Trace Paths button in the Create Nulls from Paths panel.

Thx! I tried with Nulls a few times, but somehow it's more convenient for me to trim paths. Especially 'cause you can easily change the length of the path along the way.

Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial, may I ask is there a way to let the path pass through the object, while the object stays still but shows the up and down or rotate angles movement as if the object is in focused in the motion, hahaha, just curious : )
@ManueldoesMotion
@ManueldoesMotion 3 жыл бұрын
You’re very welcome! Glad you liked it. I’m sure that’s possible. It would be a different kind of animation. If the object is in focus you need to simulate speed. Like objects flying by in the background for example. Otherwise it would be too static.

Is there any way to edit the path for both object and line at same time without copy & pasting keyframes again and again?
@ManueldoesMotion
@ManueldoesMotion 3 жыл бұрын
You could use the property pick whip and link the properties together.

how to reverse the direction of movement along the path?
@ManueldoesMotion

It depends... You could time-reverse the keyframes for example.

how have you got your selector to display those pastel colours?
@ManueldoesMotion
@ManueldoesMotion 2 жыл бұрын
I usually add a gradient ramp and choose two colors with not a lot of contrast. Like a cyan and a bright blue.

I am not against you brother but because of misleading thumbnail it wastes our time. I mean i thought you will show somewhere how to deform or wrap arrow along path that's why I clicked on the video
