Wait what i hear ya sayin bcuz you know we shud be aslp at night bcuz we are humans and are diurnal not nocturnal Except there have always and will always be humans that are more comfortable bein awake and productive at night, they used to guard our camps to keep predators away; nowadays they mop our stores to keep bacterial predators away. Notably, its been shown thru lots of slp study research that a large portion of the populace is not designed for a 9-5 scenario wakin shoryly after sunrise and restin shortly after sunfall. Prior to industrialisation, most humans livin in climates like we live in currently were actually used to wakin up at the middle of the night and just havin a convo or a midnight snack or otherwise before goin back to slp a couple to several hrs later. Industrialisation forced all of us into this idea that we shud slp the entire night away and (almost) all be productive at specific hrs durin the day. If slpin a different schedule works for you, let yourself slp whatevs schedule you can keep; bcuz the most important factor in healthy slp is consistency of slp patterns, not stickin to a one size fits all belief that humans shud slp between specific hrs and only then. I personally actually naturally feel best with the interrupted slp schedule of the pre-industrialisation era. My body doesnt like stayin aslp for more than 4-5 hrs or so. For me, ill usually fall aslp between 8-10pm and wake up between 12-2am, sometimes a wee later. I then am up and about til like 3-6am dependin on when i woke up. And then i go back to slp for another 3-5 hrs or so, wakin up properly some time around 8-10am most the time. This is the healthiest slp schedule i have ever had, bcuz its what my body naturally drifts to when i dont have to work, like currently. Work in the past has caused me to have to slp within a specific and much shorter time window instd of dedicatin a 12-14 hr window for slpin and night time activities otherwise Yet even then when i worked night shift, i found myself driftin to an interrupted slp schedule like ive always preferred. For that id find myself exhausted to the pt of passin out when i got home at 8am and then awake by noon bcuz noise of just the world and my desire to not miss out on at least bein able to talk to other humans outside of work. Id then usually catch a few hrs of a nap by like 5-6pm and be up in time for work feelin prty darn rested despite gettin nowhere near enuf slp or at the times my body wud want that slp the most
