As a retired LEO& CORRECTIONS Officer I sit where I can observe the entrance/ exit of any restaurant I dine in as this habit has served me well over the years, being able to spot a bad situation before it threatens my and my families well being and giving me time to respond if necessary.

I've been out of the Marine Corps for 48 years and I still eat quickly and I am always scanning for danger. The first thing I look for when I enter a building is where are the escape routes and exits. When I got out of the Marine Corps, I wanted nothing further to do with them (it was after Vietnam), but I soon realized that Once a Marine, Always a Marine. Oh, yeah, and one of the "gifts" I received was incurable cancer from the Camp Lejeune Water Contamination (Yes, there really are some of us). I fought the VA for 18 months, won a 100% disability rating, and now my attorney (Jerry Parker of Parker Waichman--who helped draft the Honor Our Pact legislation) is representing my case. I wish those less than honorable lawyers would stop advertising on TV so much, but the water contamination did happen, some of us got deadly cancers, and the government needs to own up to what they did to us. Sorry for getting on my soap box, but I am still pissed about it. Thanks for posting this video so I could do some self-therapy. Cheers.

Got an uncle who was at Camp Lejeune in the mid-seventies; but he will not pursue the matter like he thinks it'll be a waste of time. I'm ex-Army, myself, but I have tried to convince him to press the V.A. which has been VASTLY underfunded while that gutless, money-hungry Biden and his legion of narcissists have been in office. 87,000 IRS agents? That's 87,000 border agents that did not get hired. I hope people wise up before it's too late and keep these blood-suckers out of power.

In the early '90s, I bought a ticket for a Chicago Cubs game through Ticketmaster. I got a number for a WIll Call pick-up. When I got to the window, I gave the ticket agent all the information as clear as possible, The agent (an older gentleman) asked me if I was a Veteran. I said, "Yes" and why did he ask. He said that I gave him every bit of information clearly and without confusion. I thanked him!

Using the verb "to police up" to mean "to pick up." For example, after training on the rifle range, we policed up our brass. A "police call" means to walk in a line across the parade ground shoulder to shoulder and policing anything that didn't grow there, e.g. cigarette filters.

Because they were installing a new steam heating system when I was in Basic Training at Ft. Dix, NJ, we had no hot water for showers and cooking. We took cold showers (they tend to be quick) and a C-ration for lunch and dinner. We laughed and said it was good training for Vietnam. Naturally, when I got to Nam, I didn't have a hot shower in more than 9 months and we ate C-rations twice a day. Little did we know.

@@FactsVerse Thanks for asking!! I've replied previously that I applaud your reports on Hollywood corruption. The can of worms is both very controversial and as a safeguard therefore requiring of extraordinary diligence in research and great self restraint in publication thereof. Since you asked, in thanking you for your video on the controversy regarding the authorship of Easy Rider, I had remarked that Dennis Hopper's exaggerated claims pale to Sylvester Stallone's outright plagiarism of, at the very least, Phil Kuretski, who ghost wrote The Sting but was denied credit for The Fist retroactively, a film which Stallone ruined. I suggest it because where there's smoke, there's often fire. Does Stallone have a history of plagiarism, of contracting writers who later find out that they're ghost writing and that their deep research into real events is being distorted for propaganda? Hollywood corruption is also a dense subject without singling out Hopper or Stallone. From tragic and suspicious deaths of platinum blond Monarch Gems off screen, to tragic and suspicious deaths of action stars and standins during stunts, to The Forever 27 Club, 28 IF, or even Fake Paul McCartney (Sage of Quay says he's still alive, and John Lennon too, but, yes, that really is Billy Shears.) or Tupac and Michael Jackson, how many, if any, are alive, or could be? There are countless independent journalists reporting on these varied and related subjects, but as high quality as the productions are sometimes, more often than not, it's still only one brave soul, no matter how highly skilled, reporting the facts as they find them. I think that in terms of broad focus, this video on military habit may be a step in the right direction. Paint in broad strokes. Two's conspiracy: five's a riot - it only takes one bigot - but a hundred people makes a tiny, tiny military operation. The Press is embedded in the military (Since Persian Gulf War I) but the CIA was first embedded within the press (since Operation Mockingbird)! How deep into corruption you choose to publish is a matter of discretion, but as long as we're not going down rabbit holes and over any rainbow, as long as we're only questioning 2+2 & 2+2= but not arguing fallaciously against 2+2=4 (Number theory 2+2=∞ could be fun, but it's only theory.), then I think you may truly engage viewers and not simply mesmerize them. Thanks again for asking!

These might just be navy in general or submarines in particular . 1. In the middle of a conversation at say a walmart. They have an announcement on the storewide pa system. You immediately stop talking and wait until the announcement is over to resume the conversation. 2. Can't sleep without a fan on. (When the ventilation fans are secured on the boat without warning that means some shit is probably on fire). Like the ventilation in berthing gets secured and before the announcement is even made half of berthing is already in coveralls.

Sometimes, our language, especially amongst ourselves, gets rather"Salty," shall we say? Proving that you can take the Man out of the Military but, it takes a Looong time to get the Military out of the Man.

If you always start walking with the same foot they march you starting out with - military or ex military.

Past and present military personnel always step off left foot first. (I do this, too, although I never served, because I was in a marching band. Marching is marching.) Everyone walking in step is another habit.

Soldiers refers to ONLY the Army,its disrespectful to call Marine or any other branch a Soldier...
@ArizonaGunsDave

Most civilians don't understand the differences between soldiers, marines, airman and seaman. Unfortunately the term soldier seems to be the go to description of everyone in the military. It doesn't make it right but that's how I see it.

I still scan, and eat fast. I also still say things like Sir, Ma'am, check, understood, negative etc. I also stand at ease and use knife hands. However, I was happy to stop ironing my uniform and polishing my boots/shoes.

r30 years later and I still eat with serving spoons, watch my environment when shopping, and have no time for long dramatic stories. Most of all I am not into socializing with folks that I mean nothing to- sems the civilian population in my area are so lonely, they'll let anyone into their lives if their cell phones are down. (And I do not do Cell Phones either).
