Want to take a moment here to applaude this review video. As manufacturers we take the time to look at all review videos we can - most of the time we are bummed by the lack of depth, shallowness and sometimes plain mistakes that some divers make when using our products (and reviewing!), mostly because they do not take the time to read instructions, watch videos, or simply consider that they are doing something wrong. Of course we also take responsibility and consider a priority to design / engineer products that require the least amount of instruction-reading, video-watching as possible and we are conscious we can and we must always raise the bar to reach the highest of expectations - we will not settle and whine about critics. But this video is phenomenal - it gives an honest, personal, review, it doesn't hold back on constructive criticism, it hesitates and honestly considers various points of view when needed... Can't say enough good about it! Wish every product was reviewed with the same dedication and attention to customers. Keep the critics coming, we are here to improve, not to rest satisfied-with a full belly. Put us to work to create the best product you can imagine.

As Public Safety Divers and Underwater Salvage Divers, we have come to appreciate your products from a professional stand point, we completely understand that our use of your products are above and beyond what the average diver is going to use them for, but we want others to know that we use them, because they are superior to others and reliable. In our review, the critics we mentioned were based purely on our own muscle memory of your previous mask. One of the biggest ones we mentioned was the recessed hose adapter, as there is not much room, even by adding a quick disconnect. Another viewer commented that this is a simple fix by adding a swivel to raise the connector up. This was a great idea, and one we plan on implementing. Your new Neptune 3 has not only exceeded our expectations, but has raised the bar for other companies as well. The build quality is second to none. You guys should be very proud of what you have produced. You can gaurantee that we will continue to use and sell your products.

I have been using this mask before it came into US. the size chart is a bit off other than that I never have a problem unplugging under the water. it's much easier to use compare to all other FFM on the market. adding the omni swivel will solve the problem of extending the quick disconnect plug

I dive the Predator and like the adjustable 2nd stage. I can turn it right down at shallow depths to stop the mask bouncing/juddering on my face. Do you get the same effect with the N3 or is it fixed with the new 2nd stage?

Hello jennifer Tassell, from my experience, the bouncing/juddering is usually caused from improper adjustment of the mask itself. I haven't had any issues with the Neptune 3.

I have a question for you I also bought one my question is did your first stage come with one LP open my box wasn't open and when I did I saw one LP port cap was missing did yours come that way too ? Hopefully you reply soon before I call them. Thank you.

Hello Rocky Hernandez, yes one of the port plugs is missing. This is common with a lot of manufacturers when you purchase a first and second stage. With most manufacturers though, the primary second stage comes pre attached. In the case of the new Neptune system, due to keeping the packaging small, they simply leave the primary second stage hose disconnected.

You can order just the Neptune III, or the package which includes the Neptune III FFM, backpack, octo, a back up mask (basic scuba mask), quick connect hose, pressure gauge, standard hose, doffing handle, and extender frame accessories.

Hello francisbevacqua8014, the Neptune 3 comes in two different options. Option 1 is the Package, and option to is the System. The difference is the second stages, the bump mask, and the foldable snorkel. You can also add the GSM or the GSM Mercury to each option as well.

Is this mask meant for ice diving? Both me and the diving center near me have asked and have gotten the response it is indeed able to be used in cold waters, yet the manual says 10>

Hello Peter van de Koolwijk, XS Scuba (Highland) manufactures the lock quick releases, and we sell them here. Any XS Scuba Dealer should be able to get them for you. Part number is AC990

I just got this one, and the documentation says that the first stage is not nitrox ready. Do you have any recommendations on a suitable alternative first stage for Nitrox Diving?

Hello james collins, the first stage that comes with the new Neptune 3 is set up for Nitrox up to 40% straight from the box. Hope this helps.

@@LakeHickoryScuba I guess I'll reread the paperwork then. My read of the manual made it sound like the mask is good for 40% nitrox, but the 1st stage was a no-go. You also mentioned here that you preferred the XS QD. Is the thread pitch mounting point of the Ocean reef QD compatible with the XS one?

Hello james collins, yes it is compatible. Serveral other companies make them as well, Omni-Swivel is another example. All of these are compatible with Ocean Reef.

Hello @MrRicosueave, I would need to know what the intermediate pressure coming from the surface unit would be before I could answer that question. I would suggest contacting Ocean Reef directly as well, as their integrated dive mask require a certain amount of intermediate pressure to operate properly.

Hello Tess Mohr, you can most certainly use a transmitter with the mask. The integrated full face mask is simply merging your traditional mask and primary second stage. It has no effect on your choice of gauges or air integration computer.

Would going FFM ( or this particular mask) help with issues equalizing? It's not impossible for me to do it just takes a bit of time and if I can have something that can aid in that issue I'd happily throw the money at it and the training required for use.

Hello Jon, several things can cause issues with equalizing. Comfort being one of those. Some divers feel more comfortable with a full face mask, as it allows you to breathe through your nose. The more comfortable you are, the more relaxed you are. The more relaxed you are, the easier it is to equalize. With this being said, if its a medical issue preventing you from equalizing, such as inner ear issues, then the Full Face Mask will not help.

In my experience, it's much more difficult to equalize with a FFM. Oceanreef is easier than OTS because Oceanreef uses nose plugs (2 rounded protrusions that plug the nostrils) whereas OTS uses a noseblock (a V-shaped one-piece protrusion with flat surface to push up against both nostrils at the same time). The OTS noseblock gets a much worse seal so you have to push harder against the face. Oceanreef, despite being easier, is still more difficult than normal mask because you don't have direct access to your nose - you have to push the whole mask and make sure the nose plugs are close enough to your nostrils to plug them. I am a special case, as I have an EXTREMELY short nose, EXTREMELY... I have to push really hard on the FFM even with extenders. I can still get it to work, but def a source of discomfort, whereas I have direct access to my nose with a regular mask. From 1-10 in reverse difficulty, 10 is regular mask, 7 is Oceanreef, 3 or less is OTS. Much better than OTS, but still significantly more difficult than regular mask [in my experience, I bet if you have a bigger nose, it won't be as difficult].

I find the Oceanreef G divers mask to make my head very front heavy if I wore it on land. Is the Neptune 3 the same way? I also find G divers to be buoyant pushes my neck back underwater. Is this the same with the Neptune 3?

Hello chimyshark, sorry to hear you are having trouble with the Ocean Reef Mask. In my experience, divers who over tighten the top straps tend to have the same issues. Make sure you are adjusting the mask appropriately. Adjust the side straps first, then the bottom straps, and lastly the top straps. The top straps should just barely be adjusted. See if this works for you.

No matter how I adjust the straps and put it on. Still leaks out of the top. My OTS doesn’t leak thou I use less air with this mask.

The new one looks really good, just bought very recently the older model!! Pity. I have a question: I have the Space Extender which I have connected to my Scubapro S620Ti 1st stage is that okay? Now I am planning to buy the 1st stage from Ocean reef after seeing your video but not straight away. Normally you match 1st and second stage but have to say I missed this with Ocean reef. Excellent videos and so straight on and very helpful. I am from the UK but live in Denmark so winter cold water diving now the norm, hence buying the FF. Best to you and family.

Hello John Miskin, you can most definitely mix and match different regulator first and second stages. Just make sure you match the cracking pressure on the second stage to the intermediate pressure of the first stage.

John I think you'd be happy with the "older model" for a really long time. Just an FYI, when I first got my Ocean Reef mask I used it with a Mares 1st stage. Months later I purchased an Ocean Reef 1st stage to match with it. I'll be honest, I can't tell a bit of difference in how the mask breathes between the two 1st stages.

It breathes fine with my scubapro 1st stage so I presume it is okay. Really would have liked a FF course at your works...pity about the distance. Not many use them here in Denmark but being 65 years young any heat protection is a must here for me. Thanks again

I have a real problem with this new mask. When I got the mask, the front black cover makes a squeak noise and it seems extremely loose and poorly made. Idk if they was a manufacture problem or every mask is like this
