The ALUCIA’s quest for discovery landed us in the mountainous jungles of Indonesia’s Raja Ampat’s Islands, where inland marine lakes are allowing scientists to unlock mysteries of marine evolution. Watch as the team treks to a hidden lake to observe and sample rare subspecies of jellyfish found nowhere else on the planet.

I can’t imagine how these things survive in such dense populations ... how do they not run out of food?

Jellyfish don't eat as much as you would think plus they have evolved over time to fit snugly into there ecosystem they don't actully die anyways they just lay dormant untell they regrow there vital organs back. they eat the algae in the water witch you can't really see because of how much there is and how small they are.

Plex Viridian dude you know nothing jellyfish do die as they reach the end of their life span. The most abundant species has specialized algae that it uses for food. And jellyfish are carnivores and do not eat algae... Know your thing before commenting

@@Entety303 It would make sense he was referring to these specific jellyfish in the lake who are not carnivorous and only live off the algae. They used to eat plankton but once trapped in the lake without that food source they evolved survive off of ingesting the algae who in turn gives them energy when the jellyfish have sunlight for photosynthesis to take place. It's the comments section of an educational video... lighten up dude.

FOR ANYONE WHO IS WONDERING HOW THE JELLIES SURVIVE: The jellies in that lake have a specialized algae inside them that they evolved with after getting trapped in that lake. The algae makes food for the jelly, who provides a good place to grow. The jellies even follow the sun as the day goes on.

Can't they ever just talk about the science instead of turning it into some quasi-religious sermon? 👎🏻
