October 2023 Highway 58 construction video at Lovers Leap Mountain. Patrick County Virginia West of Stuart, East of Meadows of Dan.
This probably won’t be the only video I do on 58 this month. Stay tuned…
Highway 58 mountain (Lover's Leap Mountain) in Patrick County Virginia is being widened to a 4-lane road. Each month, I post a quick update for the locals to keep up with the progress. Hubbard 1 Productions is not paid in any way for the Highway 58 videos. This company feels that the time spent shooting and editing these videos is time well spent keeping the area informed.
Despite all the Construction Bulldozers and Dump-Trucks, Meadows of Dan is still a beautiful place to visit. Pancake Days at the Meadows of Dan Community Center on 10-15 and 10-22. We have Poor Farmers Market, Concord Corner Store and the all-new Frontier Farm and Home Center. Plus don't forget to get Lunch or dinner at Jane's Country Cafe.
Meadows of Dan offers lot's of Vacation rentals like Mountain Waves Yurt for a Blue Ridge Mountain getaway.

I never heard of it until I drove it Sunday. I was leaving Clarksville, Va and going to Huntsville, Al. This is the route the GPS took me. I've rode The Tail of the Dragon a few times on my Can Am Spyder. I can say that this is a more challenging road.

Thank you for doing these updates…I love those mountains and hate to see the destruction but nothing ever stays the same, there’s always change. I’m a NC native living in Florida. I have very fond memories of “going up across the mountain “ as my daddy used to say to say, with him & mama stopping along the way at their favorite stops for fresh produce, etc. I look forward to your videos❤

Yeah it looks horrible while under construction but after the highway and reclamation is done it will be a beautiful ride

Ever since I was a little boy I've been fascinated with road construction. I remember walking on Interstate 79 between Lost Creek West Virginia and Jane Lew when it was under construction. It was one of the first sections to be let for Interstate 79 and it is very curvy and narrow and not up to modern standards. One benefit to building interstates in West Virginia is that they can remove the coal as they dig. I now live in Phoenix Arizona but the next time I come home I'm going to drive over and check this construction out. My cousins used this road to drive from Danville to Interstate 77 to get over to Bristol Virginia.

Next will be casinos & entertainment complexes. Just like they are trying to do here in NC. Hold on to your land folks! Those "Rich Men North of Richmond" and their developer paying PACs are on the move quickly while nobody can afford to buy anything.

I agree with you I live in North Carolina to developments every everywhere cotton fields cornfield turn into house development don't sell your land let's keep North Carolina beautiful
