It's an old post but FYI quicksand isn't real and just a movie thing. It's been debunked. We know heavy things sink, light things float, humans will never be heavier than sand and will never sink.

Doesn't matter. Quicksand is not nearly as dangerous as hollywood movies made people believe. You can't 'sink and suffocate' in quicksand, your body mass is too light for its density and you would stop at about chest depth. The worst it can do is be difficult and annoying to get out of, which means it's only dangerous because of indirect threats such as wild animals messing with you while you're stuck, or you being stuck in quicksand while the tide is rising where you're stuck. Otherwise, it's very much harmless, and yes, people who do know better have no issue casually jumping on it. It's literally a touristic attraction in some areas. EDIT: As a side note, if you do ever get stuck in quick sand, just don't panic and gently wiggle/shake your limbs free while moving to get on your back, making it easier not to sink back in. It will take a while and some effort, but you can absolutely free yourself, with or without external assistance.
