In this video I go over how to install Oculus Quest custom homes and how to make oculus quest custom homes (simple ones). It's insanely easy to make Oculus Quest Custom Homes and even easier to install Oculus Quest custom home environments.

The file when making the pano environment needs to be named: "_WORLD_MODEL.gltf.ovrscene" this is what you'll copy into the home replacer folder.
Here's what you'll need:

You MAY need to install Java to get the home placer tool to work: www.java.com/en/download/
Some homes have custom audio too, to get the audio working you'll need to sideload this settings app: mega.nz/#!8VgAUarK!kDecBEiPuP... (it's really just a shortcut to the built-in Android system settings). Go to Oculus TV/Channels, click on settings, go to storage, click cached data and that'll clear the cache and then restart the headset. The new audio will now play

This is a great idea and I thought it might be possible to use it to create custom theaters for Pigasus on the Go since I need only the ovrscene file. However, for some reason, it doesn't work and I get an error message indicating that the model is in error. I have no problem, by the way, in using the default Quest Home Environment in Pigasus. Any idea what isn't working.

Again.. As I posted on the Discord.. On the fly.. After the first one, you can copy all your Environments into a folder on your quest and install and use [File Manger +] (for example) to replace Environments from within the Quest itself, without needing a PC every time.

I have tried several times to make an environment, think I was over complicating things you’ve made that look so easy 👍 thank you. The ogg within the files can that be changed too?

The ogg file can be changed too, but you'll need to clear the Quest's cache to get it to play. sideload this settings app: mega.nz/#!8VgAUarK!kDecBEiPuPMo_YuuuZoZJKpf5FKJiFUnItKS37D6Rkc (it's really just a shortcut to the built-in Android system settings). How many home environments can you have on the quest 2? The reason I ask is, why do you have to delete the ones that are already there? I really dig all of them but I’d like to have a ton of these custom ones as well.

Correct, only 2 total. But that's being worked on in the discord. Might be able to have an environment launcher. Smarter people than me are working on it. Lol

Is there a way to make a 360 video into an environment? I have some videos that are already panoramic and can play in vr but some have a loop and would be perfect for a custom environment. Unfortunately all I can find is tutorials on how to make panoramic photos and 3d models made in blender as environments. These arent 3d videos. Just 2d, 360 videos they are basically rooms or outdoor scenes with things happening in the background on loop. I want to put it on my quest 2. I have no skills or knowledge on 3d modeling so that's not an option. I just think these videos would look good lol

Thanks for your vids. You always make great content, Have a problem though... comes up with nothing when I type in environment. Tried typing in home instead, but it just comes up with com.oculus.home or com.oculus.vrshell.home. Are either of these the same? I live in China and had to do the initial setup with my friend's VPN router, so I haven't updated my Quest in a couple of months. Could this be the reason the environments aren't showing up? Thanks for any help

There's a ton of 3D environments. The Hyrule one in the beginning is one. Making them is a bit much for a short video tutorial, but not terribly hard though. Stop by the Discord and there's a TON there to download and info on making them yourself.

@@tycotech How would I go about making 3D ones? The creation part I can manage. I have experience with modeling but Im not sure which format is needed and how to make it into an app? Could you do it with UE? I also have some very limited experience there.

Cool vid, will try it tomorrow. But for homemade arbitrary 360 images I just need to rename it to 'Pano.jpg' and leave the sky.bin and sky,gltf files alone ? With the example files ?

You'll just have to wait to you get them from Oculus before you can install the custom ones. Oculus is taking forever to roll them out...

If it worked, than no it isn't a problem. If it didn't work, install Java (Google it), will fix it.

You can install file manager + or ES file explorer on your phone and just backup that app, then move it to your PC and use sidequest to install it on your Quest. But I don't think it'll work on the Quest, the cameras aren't accessible by the system.

Leave your headset on and plugged in overnight, you should get it (the display doesn't need to be on, you can press the power button to turn the display off)

So strange. The 2 environment apps are not showing up in Side Quest. I have show all checked but they just dont exist.... Which makes no sense.

Do you have environments in your settings? Some people haven't received the update yet and this won't work till you do.

Why do not Oculus allow users to add custom homes, and should there not be a way to add a home by adding thumbnail and edit some file? For in the "home selection you can see that there is room for more homes.

I keep getting error codes when I try to move the NEW_RIFTHOME.apk over to sidequest any ideas that could help me out?

Idk why, but Oculus is rolling environments out really slow. You'll get them eventually.

Nope. A USB 2 data cable will work fine (Inc the one that came with your Quest)
