That machine is the same configuration i preordered. Bare stainless steel+ Walnut+ analog pressure gauge. With right handed wand. It's truly beauty, at least for me. Good work Ross and William.

As someone waiting for an ordered Argos I really appreciate these nicely done videos. I’d specifically been wondering about the technique for venting the air in direct lever config. Thanks!

Yeah, now we just need the same sort of video on genuine updates as to when (if) we will actually receive our machines. How many machines have actually been sent out? Why, despite this being years overdue and taking hundreds of thousands in deposits is the bloke not working full time on getting the machine to its purchasers? It’s one thing to claim to be “transparent” in operation of the business with the occasional update email, it’s another thing entirely to be genuinely so by actually keeping customers informed.

I'm borrowing one right now in a direct configuration, so it was fantastic to watch you go through the process. I've been slightly slowing the air bleed, but not particularly focusing on it. Even so, I wouldn't describe any of the pulls as spongey. It's an impressive machine, especially for its diminutive stature. I'm happy to have gotten in on the initial batch .

Beautiful design. However, I am wondering if I am missing something here. My understanding is that this is a single boiler espresso lever machine like Les Pavoni's, for example but wrapped in a modernized design. Or, am I missing something?

Have you considered increasing the footprint of the baseplate for added stability to avoid using your hand for stabilization? Ideally you wouldnt need to secure it with your hand but I can see why you want to keep the overall machine small. Maybe make the metal piece under the drip tray expand out wider or in a T shape so you could twist the portafilter without toppling the machine when you torque it in and out?
@odysseyespresso
@odysseyespresso 5 күн бұрын
Yes, that would increase cost of the machine and the goal was to make it as affordable as possible. With water, the whole thing weighs less than 17lbs (7.7 kg) so a wider base wouldn't do anything for helping overcome the torque of the portafilter in this situation. Also doesn't help that I'm seated during the video.

i would like to ask about your digital bluetooth transducer. Is it compatible with flair 58 too? Is it working the same with smart espresso profiler unit? Difference in compatibility with machines or scales? I am interested in purchasing an argos and i would appreciate something that provide digital data but working also with flair 58 and having as much compatibility as possible.

With grinder like that, you're not WDT-ing to break up clumps, you're WDT-ing to ensure an even dispersal of the particulate. That's what prevents channeling. That and a decent pre-soak.

i have owned a cremina since mid 1980's, the pre cremina cult era LOL. my perspective of the cremina is it is just a home lever espresso machine, nothing to write home about. also owned a pavoni lever which did the same thing the cremina does. also have an old faemina lever that i restored. i got tired of refilling the small boiler of the cremina. a plumbed in option would have been nice. the argos imo, looks very cool, cooler than the cremina square box design. when i got the cremina nobody cared about thermal stability etc etc. if i needed another lever machine i would seriously consider the argos because of function and design and price point. is there a plumb in argos option?

@@silasketgaskets8709 Thank you for your candid reply. Yes, temperature stability at the grouphead is the #1 problem that home lever espresso machines must solve. Olympia has the money and the know-how. I can't understand why they don't make the Cremina better than the excellent machine it already is.

@@davidhunternyc1 why would olympia care when "cult of cremina" people are lining up to donate 4000 dollars for it LOL ? they will hate me for saying it. mid 1980's cremina brand new around 360usd. 360 1985 dollars in 2023 dollars 1032.00. perhaps olympia did justify the 1200% price increase as now they include a metal tamper whereas mine back then came with a plasic one.
