Here is my review of the OEX Rakoon 2.1 man tent. It's a really smart looking unusual tent which I had high hopes for. Unfortunately during the wild camping gear test I found a few niggles I didn't really like. It was however waterproof and spacious inside but I would say its better for just one person with equipment as the 2 vestibules were rather small. The weight of this tent is around 2.7kg.
Overall I don't think I would recommend the OEX Rakoon II tent.

Banging tent. Had loads of tents over the years and always come back to the Rakoon. Eats Dartmoor for breakfast!

A good value 4 season tent. I'm not keen on tents with the inner exposed when the doors open, but it ticks so many other boxes it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

It's not bad but there were a few things with it that bothered me. Tidy tent for the price though

I fell asleep last night with my legs out the tent and my top half in the tent. Carp fishing got me tired but this weather is great, the tent has held up great for me the last 48 hours on the banks 😂

I also use the green sheet door as a privacy sheet, peg the corner out and roll other up, in summer it brings amazing wind in, then if all fails open air vents 👌👌

Brilliant little tent. Great value. Done about 8 camps in mine. Looking to get the cloud peak as an upgrade

It's a great tent. My mate has the first version with the fibreglass poles and it survived 40mph winds! I'd say it's a spacious enough 2 man tent. It's really just the Cloud Peak without an extra pole and no hat.

I had to edit so much out of that as he kept jumping in but I left the vestibule bit 😂. It was alright I had a cosy enough sleep in there but didn't like a few features

Vestibule 😂👍 yes that’s my only gripe so if it’s peeing down no where to put a stove but as I’m no long a winter camper it maybe fine , I used a small tarp over the tent with my cloud. Up 1

It's a little small in the porch but otherwise a fairly good shaped tent 🤟 tarp would make it ideal

Whats your favourite 2 man (am a large bloke)? Was looking at this but the Coleman Darwin is a fair bit cheaper. Am after as light as possible for use in Wales this summer. P.s I am thinking of adding a tarp extension to stick motorbike under. Great vid boyo.

@@MrWildWales Ahh when I looked at that in that price range doesnt come with poles so whilst looks light it isnt much diff to others. Just ordered the naturhike 3up at 2.5kg. Looks ok. Cant wait to test in Wales! Will be summer mind you so a bit Jessie like🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 (Went with as light as possible to fit in 50litre roll bag, will do a vid). It took me quite awhile to go from zero to being rdy! (Stumbled on your channel last thing so was great to see a couple of reviews)

Yeah you'd use a trekking pole for a lanshan. They are about 250 grams. Cloud up 3 is it? You'll get on well with that it's a good tent especially for the summer 😄

I also have this tent! The inability to keep the door open annoys me too, couple of bulldog clips will sort it, same with the window inside when you want it open, there are only two rubbish clips to keep it in place, I'm going to sort out another one for the window but not sure how I'm going to fix the door! The awning area is small but because you can lift four the panels I liked how accessible it was I found the orange rings came off the guide ropes quite easily so had to retie those. Overall I do like it though, it's a good design aesthetically, it's light to carry. In a hot place it's hand to have it in multiple bags so you can just leave the fly sheet / outer at home.

The door would probably be better with some sort of hook maybe or a drawstring you could tighten. Yeah it's nice to be able to open the door fully when its not raining for a good view out. Thanks for the info on it

With the door, have you tried rolling it up horizontally from the bottom rather than from the side? Not sure if it'd work on this tent but it works on others.

I hope it didnt rain I tested mine in the back yard outer touched inner at the roof when it rained, enough said I brought it back the next day

It did rain and actually I noticed that in the morning a couple of drips came through the mesh on the inner nothing major though

The drop down door could be a problem in the rain.

Yes you would get the inner wet while opening

I've worked for Go Outdoors for 6 years and I've never seen the Brown / Grey version of this tent that you mentioned. As you can imagine, I have a lot of tents and this is one of them. Best tent they ever made is still the OEX Cougar EV II.

The website shows them as brown it's pretty misleading. That cougar looks like a solid tent

"Rakoon 2" is brown. "2.1" is green.
