Finn, my friend! I think either of the following would be great candidates for upcoming podcasts: Justin Hawkins (The Darkness) who has had a successful music career but has also now pivoted into content creation on youtube. Travis Ryan (Cattle Decapitation) on transitioning from grindcore to a reasonably popular metal band and their impact on veganism - that and I think just based on his vibe would be a good fit to talk shit with for an hour. Appreciate you and all you do!

Idk what this guy is even talking about. To me the first two albums have solid structure and so much FEEL. The songs flow into eachother. If someone asked me what is metalcore I'd show them Ben Threw or something. That's top shelf. I'm only 5 minutes in but it honestly sounds like hes trying to sey they didn't sell out while at the same time we were fully motivated by other more successful bands and the mindset of how can we make more money. I don't resonate with anything after the first two albums and this just makes it clear why.

He said the songs didn't have structure, which is true. I don't even understand your complaint with that because that was actually the appeal of the songs on their first album. Also, this is clearly opinion based, but Echo is their best music since the self titled album.
@nicholasadams81
@nicholasadams81 11 ай бұрын
I agree with you on this. I'm not too sure about the debut self-titled because I only know a couple songs from that one, but The Flood is a banger well-structured album with clear choruses, great bridges, fully-fledged well thought out songs. Purified is still one of the best metalcore songs to ever be written in my honest opinion and disregarding that as "different parts thrown together" is mind-boggling to me and I think anyone who was around for that album.

I tried listening to Sleep Token, didnt like them. I once speculated that they are fey indie pop musicinas doing metal, or older metal musicans doing pop metal. If the rumours are true, then its both. Oddly enough the first two Sleep Token records were recorded not far from where I live. A small metal/prog festival near me had them on the lineup.

well, remember that itunes is a dying medium so don't take that into consideration. Just look at how the streaming plays increased from e&s to echo on spotify. That's progress! We'll see how fast Tether racks them up and compare 6 months to a year from now. Should still be good considering they're touring again so increased exposure

I love how you still don't get Sleep Token. Maybe I can do some explaining?! So Vessel has a very unique way of telling a story. He uses beautiful metaphors, analogies and so on to do so. The stories that he tells are filled with pain and seem very personal. We (the fans) assume that he attempted suicide at some point and he writes about that. Vessel also has very visible self-harm scars. It seems like he faced a great amount of pain at some point. His music, especially the lyrics, speaks to me because I dealt with the same issues. Maybe you have never really read one of their songs? You don't have to. You can't argue about taste anyway and I understand that this music is not for everybody.

It's used in reference to the radio stations that say they play "nothing but rock" but only play stuff from the 90's and late 80's and Nickelback Shinedown. They don't stay up to date with modern rock or metal. Radio friendly edits or not.

@@jjcul I think you're directly referencing the new song ft. Hardy with that comment to which I'd say: it's not my favorite lyrically (the sentiment is great, but the lyrics themselves could and can be better, especially from Beartooth/Caleb) however, the modern pop-rock country vibes is what they were going for with it, and they delivered that well while still keeping their heavy signature Beartooth riffage. A long-winded way to say: it's supposed to be butt-rock! And they did a pretty good job with it!
