Lyrics:
All this time wasted and all this time gone
You are still waiting on me
And every time you leave the house, remember you're not safe
But you are hardly ever
All those times that I could swear I heard you speak
You spoke in such low voice
Of how if you could choose you would choose not to feel
Because you are hardly ever happy
Sometimes I find myself standing on those stairs
With eyes so blank and unsure
Realizing this is not where I want to be
And not where i want to go
And I don't mean to somehow always disagree
But I feel that you do not see
In order to love you have to be all you can be
And mostly you have to love yourself
Because with all this time wasted and all this time gone
You are still waiting on me
Oh but if I could choose I would choose not to feel
Because I am hardly ever happy

Yep, I wonder if they'd ever touch "Hawaii", "Boy and a Bird", "Josie", "Blueberry Mountain", "Happy Song", "Beneath my Bed", or "Sugar in a Bowl" ever again. In particular, those last two were pretty polished, and would be good bonus tracks for a release. The early "Songbird" project era stuff would also be fun to see on a "B-sides and Rarities" album.

This is like a tribute to their past albums. I feel nostalgia and I miss it too, the new multi-colored and vibrant entity must be them which also represents their new style today which is revisiting their old style or album. This must mean that they will always remember it but they will still continue to grow, hence the contrast with the colors.

Well, it's gotta be in the style of *My Head Is an Animal;* this is a song from that era. It's one of the three songs played at the contest that won them the ability to make an album. It even dates back to when they were called Songbird. _"We used to be birds, but now we're monsters",_ I believe is their old slogan.

I discovered of monsters and men when I was 11, they were the first band I ever properly became a fan of, the first album I bought was theirs and the first concert I went to was also one of theirs. Through them, I fell in love with music, and I'm so thankful for the songs they've given the world. They really are a reminder that this form of expression is truly an art. I'm twenty now, but it always comes back to me discovering "my head is an animal" and realising how deeply music can touch people. Seeing this song released officially makes me incredibly nostalgic, thank you OMAM

I don't know if anyone will find this comment among all the others but I felt to type this out to express my full love and appreciation of both this song and this band. My brother was the one who originally introduced me to OMAM almost 4 years ago and this band has really been there for me. When life was so confusing to understand and when I didn't know what to feel, their music made life feel like a story and like I was in a fantasy adventure. They gave my fears a face like a monster I felt I could defeat, they made my bravery and my own goals feel much bigger than just feelings. Their music made me look at myself as just a traveler in the woods just trying to reach home. That no matter how cold the nights got, we will get home. Their music really created for me a sense of understanding and art with poetry. I could see a spirituality in my own life and OMAM really help me see that and was able to get through those tough times. Well, like my brother introduced me to their music that long ago, he also told me of the release of this song and I immediately jumped onto it and I can't believe how much this song spoke to me. First what hits me is that it's called Phantom. Like a ghost revisiting after so long away. And this ghost took me back over my journey I had and helped me see again the lessons I've learned along the way and how that phantom was their through it. This song creates for me the feeling of who I was as that confused teenager and now am a grown man who can look back that I fought off the monsters, I experienced love and dedication. I went through the woods and seen the beauty of nature and the aspects of life. And the thing is, I'm not out of the woods yet and I'm not home yet. We all are still on those roads through the nature of life. And I believe this phantom is a visitor for all of us and brings us all back to how OMAM's music has been their for all of us. Making each day more than just a day. But an adventure we all are going through. I really hope this band and this song has blessed a lot of people and spoke to them in amazing ways. Alone, we fight these animals. Alone we will get home. And we will get their. So keep your head held high.

Feel the exact same way... I've been in love with my best friend for the past 4 years and last May I finally got the courage to kiss her and everything went right... we started dating... at first it felt like she was also in love with me... slowly that started fading... and I noticed it. Told me she was depressed most of last year and wanted us to return to when we were happy and be good friends. We Broke up day after Christmas. I still talk to her and we're still friends... it hurts sometimes... but maybe some things aren't meant to be.

This video is so full of references to other old songs, I love it! Here's the ones I caught! (Some might be a bit of a stretch though haha) 0:55 The forest of *Six Weeks,* including the creature. 1:20 A difficult one! The creature reminds me of the one at the end of *Little Talks* as well as the one in *Love Love Love.* The fur texture seems to be the same as the one in *Lakehouse,* and the three glowing eyes and huffing nose seem to be a reference to the rocket in *King and Lionheart.* (Edit: Correction: As someone below said, the creature is from *Numb Bears* :)) 2:08 Scenery looks similar to the one in *Sloom.* Even one of the trees in the background seems to be the same, only mirrored. 2:58 The airship from *Little Talks,* the horses from *Mountain Sound* 3:08 Birds show up. Could be a reference to the bird in *Little Talks,* the ones in *Slow and Steady,* or, my guess since the perspective matches, the ones in *Dirty Paws.* 3:33 Starting here, the video has the same perspective as the one for *Slow and Steady* This made me so nostalgic! Thank you OMAM for sharing another wonderful song with us.♥

Perhaps they were recorded way back then? It was hinted at with a "Who knows?" (paraphrasing). The 10th Anni. Edition is supposed to be to honoring the original Icelandic release, but heads up; only the songs specifically mentioned to be the _"2011 Icelandic Release Version"_ are from the original version. The rest are from the American album. They sound different. Mixed by a different guy. Some cool elements to the American version, but otherwise, I think they sound bad and hurt my head. Importing the original from Iceland is (was?) easy and cheap on Record Records. They seem to be having problems currently, tho. I can't find a means to add anything to the shopping cart. Hopefully they fix it soon.

At that point, they entered a competition and changed their name to reflect the band's change. Raggi came up with Of Monsters and Men. After they won the contest (performing _this_ song, along with _Sugar in a Bowl_ and _Love Love Love),_ they got two new members: Kristján from Arnar's other band (Cliff Clavin) and a friend of theirs...Árni. With that, they recorded their first album. Had a little help from trumpet players Ari and Ragga (the latter played with them live, and I think they met her thru Árni), the french horn player Bergrún, and a big group of their friends for the HEYs and the chorus.

Passing and forgetting about who they use to be, always on the move. Conforming. That this is exhaustion.

I'm currently crying. This song was pretty much important to me when I was 15. When I was part of the fencing club and went in long road trips with my teammates. I remember the rainy afternoons in the bus, while some were sleeping. This used to sound in an old mp3 I had. Those days are long gone, but treasured, and arose today with the liberation of this, that also remembered me this album, which I hold dearly close to my heart. Thank you so much for your music! It has been the greatest part of the soundtrack of my life. Lots of love :)
