This video features activity on New York, Susquehanna & Western's Utica NY line on October 29 & 30, 2021.
On October 29th, No. 3040 is seen southbound on Utica's Schuyler Street powering its one-boxcar train. The boxcar is consigned to Oneida Warehouse, New Hartford, approximately 5 "rail" miles from the Susquehanna's Utica yard.
Next, the short freight is observed running alongside New York State Routes 5, 8 & 12 (known locally as the "Arterial").
The following scenes are at the very end of what the Susquehanna calls its "New Hartford Industrial," tracks off the NYS&W's mainline and once a part of New York, Ontario & Western's Utica Division.
Finally, some activity is captured at Oneida Warehouse.
On Saturday morning Oct 30, a track gang can be seen working just south of Genesee Street in Utica NY. A major track rehabilitation project is underway on the line this fall, including work on the New Hartford (ex-NYO&W) and New York Mills (ex-West Shore) industrials.

Thanks my friend!!! Very interesting!!! To see how things work!!! Yrs ago my wife had a friend who didn't quite stop in time as the train 🚂 was crossing the tracks! And as a result a car that wasn't paying attention ran into the back of his car! On 840!

"hidden backwaters"......I guess ya can call it that, we just call it rural America😊 Branch lines are slowly becoming an endangered species here.

I am SO gonna miss them, but I am saving these videos for when I need my train "fix"!! And that was super cool to see how they repair the tracks!!! Now, if only they could fix the line on Schuyler St so we all stop having such issues w our sewer system!!

Always lovely to see #3040 at work. His crew are always so careful of traffic. There must be times when it gets frustrating to have to watch out for every little thing. The maintenance of way action is fascinating. Thanks for the video.

@@lorettacaputo6997 yea, guess ya do. It was too funny, but I kept hearing a rooster about 2 yrs ago. Could not figure how or why!!! Then I had my front door open 1 day, and saw chickens across the street. Huh, how??? This is the "city"!!! I also had cataracts in both eyes. Got outside, crossed the road and sure enough 2 chickens in my neighbors driveway lol.Saved my sanity, even though we really aren't allowed "farm" animals here. But they were not the chickens who "crossed the road...." Cause they were too scared to wander down the drive to the st.
