Living on my narrowboat in Autumn, I experience stunning colourful foliage, misty magical canal scenes, witness celestial Luna moments, and each morning the appearance of roe deer in the field opposite, even a barn owl makes a fly pass. I enjoy my mindful walks in the woodland next to my floating home. Life is a lot easier now I've got myself a new trolley to transport my supplies to the boat along the towpath, including a water tight rucksack.
The Journey started here... I once lived in the fast lane of life, happily married of 26 years, with two children. That chapter was suddenly shattered by the sudden loss of my wife to cancer, which led me in to depression and homelessness. Waking up in hospital, after attempting to take my own life, with just a suitcase, kayak and bicycle and no money, I've managed to rise up out of the darkness and find happiness and continue my next chapter.
I'm a self taught film maker, and creating these vlogs, it gives me something to do, share my personal experiences as I continue my journey cruising and living life on the canal. Please do consider supporting my channel below... Thank you Dave

Thank you for a lovely video. There is no doubt that "stop & smell the roses" is the way to stay sane & keep everything on an even keel - I learned that from my Dad as he took us kids from our city street to the countryside almost every weekend - and he always said that is where the real world is ! Thank you Dad ! I dabbled in so many babbling brooks as a kid, found frogs & picked armfuls of bluebells when they were in season - lovely memories ! Dads - get your kids out there - show them huge spider's webs, bumble bees making honey, the dew on the grass in the early morning - they will 'see' the world with new eyes & never forget to value what we have on this earth !

I've only just discovered your amazing channel and it's been such a blessing. For many different reasons I often don't sleep at night but these little works of art are so relaxing and they really help me. I'm old now and disabled and can't get out into nature myself but you have enabled me to live your experiences with you. Thank you so much for what you do. Wonderful video. Watching from over here in western 🇨🇦. We’d planned to move over here permanently and a couple of years after that decision we came to the realization whilst walking along the Kenner and Avon canal one January morning that we were now in a position to do so. That April we ‘upped sticks’ and moved. Seeing this video took me back to that moment 15y ago. Thank you so very much for the wonderful moments over a morning coffee. Stay well.

You have really found the way to live this life as it was intended. All the distractions of the modern world don't concern you, you have found the peace and beauty that most people are too busy rushing around to notice. Fantastic films and music too, I imagine a few real ales and an English Sunday lunch in an old country pub with the fire crackling would be a great place to have a chat with you about nature and the world as it quietly passes from day to dusk to night! The only canal boater to show me deer. I love them, used to have a huge number as neighbours before the next door folk installed a deer proof fence and I miss them…….they used to eat all my naughty ivy.

Hi, you can cruise a few thousand miles of canals if you wish. However, I care for an elder with dementia a day or two a week, so I need to stay within the area. I cruise up and down two canals. Thanks for watching 🙏

No, I don't read books. If I happen to open a book, I look at the images, or occasionally, my eyes scan quickly through and land on a sentence or certain words that i connect with. Everything tends to come from nature itself, really, or just being in the stillness wherever I am. I've learned and gained knowledge through my mistakes. 🙏

On the canals, there are places to turn every so often called winding holes. On episode 75 at about 6 mins in to the film you will see me turning the boat around. Episode 75.... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aZhga8h815bPZqs.htmlfeature=shared

I'd love the lifestyle you live dave it would do wonders for my mental health it's so peaceful do you live aboard one your own or do you live with a partner?

Hi Daniel, anywhere in nature is great for your mental health, but living on calm water is very calming for the mind. I'm a solo liveaboard, but have a very special friend not always far away. 🙏 thanks for tuning in. 🙏 Dave
