Plus he has his inveter, power monitor & alternator connected to the battery bank wrong. I hate DIY videos like these where things are done wrong. Then presented like it's a great idea... So anyone who tries it, ends up wasting time & money. Even worse is when the video maker realizes he did it wrong but leaves the video & bad info posted up anyway for views... Instead of removing the video & making a new one showing how to do it right. After the 4 batteries are wired in parallel. It should now be treated like 1 giant 12V battery. So the +&- inverter cables would go on each end of battery bank. Not both cables attached to the 1 battery on the end. Then the jumper cables would connect similar but to opposite ends so the alternator power gets pulled into the batteries. Then pulled out by inverter & not connected to same posts as inverter cables. He could also use some fuses. Plus any system over 1,000 or 1,500w you'd want to switch to a 24V or 48V system to make more efficient & able to use smaller cables. Also the battery bank cables are longer than needed. Creating some power loss but I can understand not wanting to cut them. Marine batteries also suck when used as deep cycle only batteries. I'm a total newbie who doesn't know much but at least know basics. Along with your alternator info. Means this whole system is a complete hack job.....It irks me when people post videos like this acting like they're some expert who knows WTF they're doing & that people should copy this idea.

It doesn't matter alternators charge at any speed, that's why they got rid of generators years ago in cars, the generators would only charge at high speeds, and the alternator charges at any speed

You have your inverter, battery monitor & jumper cables connected to your battery bank wrong. After the battery bank/4 batteries are wired in parallel. You treat it like it's now 1 giant 12V battery. So you would connected the inverter +&- cables to each end of the battery bank...NOT the +&- to 1 battery on the end. You then connect the jumper cables on opposite ends of the battery bank on opposite sides of the inverter connections. I'm a complete solar newbie & don't know much but know this. Also as another person said. The alternator really needs it's cooling fan & will burn up if you're constantly trying to pull max 2000w out of it. I think he said it should only be pulling 35% to 50% of max rated amp. and only pull max amp for short time periods. So pulling like a constant 700w would be OK. Along with being mounted vertically isn't very good for the bearings & cause faster wear. There's nothing wrong with not knowing but if a person keeps a video posted for views that has the wrong info. It makes them look like a douche bag. I'm no way saying you're a douche bag. But if you keep the video posted unedited then you are.
