This is an awesome rig! I recently finished my 5x8 cargo trailer and had a very similar philosophy about being able to pull it anywhere my ranger could go. Thanks for sharing this tour! I ended up installing matching wheels to my truck (which are the same bolt pattern as Jeeps and standard trailer axles) and it really compliments the look and I now have a spare that can work on the vehicle and/or the trailer.

Holy smokes! If I haven't commented on this rig before, please allow me to do so now. Like JoelTremblay, I am finishing up a 1.5-person 5 X 10, but one intended to allow interior passage from the forward bunk to the rear galley... an open floorplan, if you will. It will be nice for what I do which is southwestern high desert fall/winter/spring camping. YOUR BROTHER'S TRAILER, on the other hand! is everything I want mine to be! but, sadly, the galley can only be accessed by going outside. The desert can get quite windy which is when I'd reef my awning and stay in the trailer cabin. I won't have nearly the great many storage options your brother's trailer has. Wow... I have a mind to alter my plans! Hahaha... but I"m too far along. Color me envious! of your great 5 X 10 project. It is a real winner (and I have seen my share).

not bad set up, impressivd on utilization of space, only thing I could see might need a little attention is that the kitchen on the big swinging door in back is partly exposed to the elements. if you got that part of the back kitchen covered up to protect from weather would defentally be a pretty good all around set up. personally I would have done the double barn door and that would have solved it , buy just haveing an awning over the back extending beyond the doors, just extend and loop that existing awning on around and over the back end...then you could be cooking in any weather condition , for smoke controll wile cooking just ad a fan in the kitchen area powered off solar to blow off the smoke...thanks for shareing. really well built and thought out.

Awesome build! What size cargo trailer and were any upgrades done to the suspension?
@ramblinmanconversions64893 жыл бұрын
The trailer is 5 feet wide and 10 feet long. It was ordered with 3,500 pound axles. Without water and food we are estimating the trailer to be about 2,500 pounds. When it is fully loaded with water, food, clothes, and other items it rides down rough roads very well. So I don't think we are overweight. If a trailer is too light (compared to the axle rating) it will bounce a lot. His does not do that.
@workinghand57682 жыл бұрын

Nice trailer sir Can you tell me about that big window in front of the trailer What size is it and where can find one like that I’m building my off road trailer too I really like the big window in front thanks
@ramblinmanconversions64893 жыл бұрын
The window in the front is one of the things he might not do the second time around. They are difficult to keep water tight. I worry about rock damage. We have talked about making a cover and hinging it upwards as an awning over the window. The trailer fabricator supplied the window so I am unsure of the brand. If I find any more information I will post it.

beautiful what kind of suspension does the trailer have?
@ramblinmanconversions64893 жыл бұрын
it has a rubber torsion axle, not sure if it is a Dexter axle. Time will tell if it holds up to true off-road. The plan is to swap it for a Timbren axle-less system when and if it wears out. It was an economical solution available from the factory
@georgewashington9383 жыл бұрын
@@ramblinmanconversions6489 I have been looking at suspensions. The Timbren's seem like a decent option, but they don't have as much travel as I was hoping for. The Australian swingarm suspensions have awesome performance, but are probably a lot more expensive than Timbren.

@ramblinmanconversions64892 жыл бұрын
I have been looking, I can't find the brand name of the strut
@PatrickKQ4HBD2 жыл бұрын
It's all in the geometry. A bracket that sticks out an inch or three from the door will compress the strut the most when the door is half open, so either fully open or fully closed will allow the strut to extend.
