We start out at camp in Hurricane Creek NC, and make our way up the road to max patch. Unfortunately I get into a tight spot on what I call the "easy" end of Hurricane creek and I have to winch myself free. One we make it up the dirt road to Max Patch, we hike all the way to the top. And it's far. And I'm waaaayyyy out of shape. From there we head back to Buzzard's Roost for the second time, as it's just too breathtaking to miss if you're up there. Heading home the long way afterward, this rounds out a fantastic trip through a couple great trails in North Carolina's Pisgah National Forest. Awesome time with our new fried Jay and his pup Bailey!!

This is the most underrated overlanding channel.

I appreciate the kind words. We're still fairly new to KZfaq, so hopefully we will keep picking up traction. We'll keep doing what we do, and try to get better at this as we go along... Thank you!

It's interesting how different this trail is depending on the time of year. I just did a video on my channel jeepNdirt (The no camping overlanding video)and caught this area in full fall colors. I included this trail in a piece of the video of course my JL on 38's made it look so easy, but I know in the snow or rain those off camber sections can be sketchy. Nice job, and great channel.

I'll check you out, but ya, a jl on 38s makes most things look easy. Hurricane creek isn't a hard trail, there's just s out of spots like you say that are off camber and if you get it wrong there is a heavy price to pay...

Ya is certainly not the hardest trail out there, but it's fun. It's got that great camp site and is a good trail to take stock trucks through.

That tree root. If it gets wet, it just throws you right off to the side. The last time I went through, after this, just drove right up it. But at least I know I'm not the only one that got stuck there. We can share the shame... 🤣

What pressure do you run at? Looks like you could go a little lower and get a little more grip. I run 15-20 depending on how loaded I am.

@@blueduster74 I can't remember what pressure I was at that day. With those rims if I went below 20 pounds I would pop a bead. I have different wheel/tires now.

a tip for people with a winch; I always check winch to make sure it works. I start by clicking my winch switch out and back in to make sure it works before i pull the rope out. I always check it before i leave my house if i plan to go somewhere tough and im sure i will need my winch. If i didn't check it before leaving my house and end up needing my winch while on the trail, then i will check it then before i pull the rope out. I have a nice warn zeon with very clean wiring job, but it is still worth taking the time to check it before you get 100 feet of rope pulled out

Hey nice video! Myself and a group of friends are planning on hitting Hurricane Creek in a couple weekends. If you ask 10 different people you’ll get about 8 different answers, but having been through here recently do you see any reason a stock Tacoma and stock 4Runner can’t make it? Both have good AT tires. Thanks!

Both those vehicles have tackled House Gap both directions with no problems.

I found old house gap and Hurricane Creek to be very similar difficulty. There's a couple spots that you may drag a bumper, but I see no reason you won't make it. The tacoma in the video only had a leveling kit in the front, and my fj is on a 3"lift and 33s. We both have the factory reset locker, and I think that's important, but not mandatory. Go have fun! You'll be good.

@@EverymanOverland awesome thank you! That was what I was expecting, but wanted to be sure. My 4Runner has a similar lift and 33s, but want to make sure I’m not dragging my buddies into something over their heads haha.

Did you have a problem with hornets in the camp spot? I camped in that same spot in Sept 2021 and there were hornets harassing us all night.
@EverymanOverland
@EverymanOverland 2 жыл бұрын
We had a problem with hornets just up the road from there also in Sept 2021... If you watch our video about going to the WEBN fireworks, we attempted to stay at a little spot that's just off the 26 headed towards buzzards roost before you get to the river. We got there late at night, and the hornets started swarming us. We ended up across the 26 again at the entrance sign to the national forest. But no, I think we have stayed there 3 times now and haven't so much as seen any hornets there...

That's so weird. That was the same thing that happened to us at the Hurricane Creek spot. We got in late at night (almost midnight), and as soon as we had lights up and running, the hornets came! Chasing them out of the back of my Jeep was fun. We'd brought a can of flying insect killer, and pretty much fumigated the entire area. Other than that, that spot was amazing. The sound of the creek running all night had me out like a rock.

@@DefiantOffroad ya those hornets were big and scary. We got 2 in the truck and I had to stand outside with the light to flush them out so we could escape. Of course being outside with the light, I managed to find plenty more!

Would hurricane creek be possible to do on 32”s?
@EverymanOverland
@EverymanOverland Жыл бұрын
Yes. They actually graded a lot of it since this video was taken so it's a bit easier these days. I'm headed up there again next month with a group of guys. It's not a place I'd go alone, but I see no reason you couldn't make it on 32s...
