Here's a look at the off road trailer I built to follow my mudding mower. It's pretty rugged, and it works!

I frickin love it! Some scrap laying around, something between the ears and you save yourself a fortune. Cool

@xhenchmanx I welded it right to the frame, so yeah, I guess it's pinned. I originally build it for speed, so it was necessarily, then I slowed it down a little bit.

a little bit, it depends on how aggressive you are with the ratio. but these motors have a ton of torque, so theres plenty of room to improve.

@casebutler I usually use it for wood and brush, the way its set up is so a good amount of weight sits on the rear mower tires, which helps when your moving a big load. keeps the traction

thats a really ingenius way to hitch it to the mower, allowing the trailer to flex pretty much completely over.. wont be breaking hitches that way :p i really enjoy this. me and my buddy are making trailers similar to this, but 6.5 feet long and the axle right in the middle. we're going to take ours on camping hunting trips and sleep in the trailer.

I have a garden wagon with a piece of pipe for a tongue, it works great but I need one like yours.

it started way back when I was like 11 years old, that was when I got my first tractor. That was a really old yardman with an 8 hp on it, 1 foward and 1 reverse gear... then I got a 7 hp toro, with a 3 speed and chain drive. thats where I started!
@Fearlessfront

@tylerervin05 it would do it, it'll drag a mower with locked up wheels, if it were on a trailer, it would be a piece of cake!

@axlesteel12 no, I didn't stiffen it at all. I did weld the steering column part to the body, but it's all still removable. The frame is pretty much original

I have an old MTD. Took it apart completely. All that is left is a rectangular frame and rear axle with wheels. The rear axle is held to the frame with two L-shaped planks, bolted on the side of the frame. I shall move them closer to the center to reduce the tongue load. The original rear axle has excellent bearing. Then several 2x4 bolted across the frame, plywood and here it is. The connection can be a smallest ball from a regular car hitch. However, this cost 20 dollars for the coupler. I can use an old ball joint as a ball connection. Not good for cars, but still OK for the lawn mower.

nice mower fearless, could we see some more videos of it. soon i hope, i might be getting a westwood mower as a project and i may be taking some of your ideas. i was out today in my standard 1985 MTD recording it driving through a few deepish puddles. also sometimes when i back up onto a hill the transaxle wont let me change from reverse to forward. it got me into a bit of trouble today when it decided to do it.

@Fearlessfront I know! it would be sick, i already have the idea (Via-my other video) and i have all the parts, if i do im going to use a lawn cheif rear end the same kind that your peerless came off, and im going to put a sprocket on thee rear transaxle and run a chain up to a jackshaft then down to the front end, the reason im not running it straigh to the front end is because it would hang kina lown and i down want it snagging, but it would definitely be sick!

Hi! I am thinking of getting a garden tractor for mowing and also for towing a cart that takes 3-400kg. I am not sure how many hp is enough to tow that load and which type of transmission can cope - hydrostatic or manual and is any paticular brand better that otthers - Craftsman, MTD?
